This program is between Halcon and Rheinmetall to develop a self defense system fo ships using the Skyknight missile.

Performance is generally similar to the RIM-116 and may be used for UAEN and export customers.

Pakistan so far has been resistant to opting RIM style CIWS. Hope they include them in future or a hybrid solution which incorporates both missiles and gun. It is certainly a more expensive endeavour but with threat of supersonic missiles it is a priority. Availability has been an issue.

2/secs per round is crucial here and the faster it can respond the better some folks were saying this is basically Iron dome or what but it is not

A Joint venture should be explored. I would actully love to see Pakistan follow the Ukraine model in getting entangled with every single freaking project that is taking off.. It is crazy how Ukraine achieve to do that there is few handful projects that Ukraine is not part of currently.. If there is a random production project taking place on some unknown island country Ukraine is involved in it somehow via joint venture agreement it seems like they are active constantly and engage with others

JV is an expensive endeavour and Pakistan has reserved such ventures for more strategic projects. As far as Ukraine is concerned you have to understand they inherited all military tech from
soviet union as its territory was a manufacturing hub for a wide range of defence related equipments. Ukraine has basically just built on capability which was always there for them. They didnt have to invest anything into establishment of new industrial base whether it was for R&D or manufacturing.

There is something called tax and all you gotta do is cut tax from the civilians and make way for any project necessary. Pakistan is 1 trillion economy there is alot of money flooding inside the country you just need to tax your way into them

1 trilion dollar nominal?

You are not suppose to quote GDP in PPP when you talk about development spending. Always quote GDP nominal method according to which size of economy is 294 billion by last estimate. Now consider that debt to GDP ratio is 74%. Forex reserves to Debt ratio is 196%. Our country is running on a net negative CA deficit and lets not talk about negative trade deficit. Pakistan will need almost 12 billion next year for debt repayment and servicing. You need to consider ine thing right now our external debt is 112 billion and forex reserves are 22 billion. All of this is reality first fix your economy to a level where we can actually even talk about JV.

Pakistan's Nominal is not correct and in fact most nominals are not and it is hard to pinpoint them hence the flood of money is much greater and all you gotta do is find ways to tax yourself into it

that is huge jump for UAE only few countries can develop this kind of weapon CIWS naval launcher as American RIM-116.

I noticed that it has same missile range as ( RIM-116 ) 10 KM. I wish they develop several radars short & medium range ones.

Halcon tested Skyknight twice last one was end of 2021.

I am Curious :woot::woot: to know the result of the two tests, did Skyknight C-RAM short range air defense missile success of failed to shoot down the target. I hope the reveal the footage soon.

So is this ready for export or are they still testing it? That 2 seconds rate of fire is very impressive.

No way it’s ready for export. Maybe 5 years at max if the concept is pursued.

Anti ship missiles are a big problem and this is a solution for it hopefully.

Man, they got so many damn projects going it's ridiculous lol. Hard to keep track.

Something like this should be out there, but the way they're approaching their modus operandi with prototypes and then wait for someone to pursue it is a bit strange TBH. But i suppose it's the safe way instead of building a bunch and not getting any contracts.

However, combat proven systems or at least realistic exercises to display them would go a long way.

I also hope they're going to invest a lot more into air to air missile technology. It seems like with all the restrictions put on that type of weaponry out there, that would be the market to get into bigtime.

It’s not exactly that, but they pursued this directly to the UAE Navy. If they are interested they will purchase it, if not they won’t and it may enter the export market.

Rheinmetall could use this on ships but that would compete directly with Diehl Defence and the RIM-116 RAM.

They said they will “Demonstrate” them by 2025 and they plan to enter all segments of the guided weapons sector.

Denel Dynamics had an 100km BVR missile that it may be based off in the future.

They recently developed a radio frequency facility which will assist in this in the future.

You’re right about there being a big limitation by European and American countries. If they can produce a Western standard A2A missile it would be very successful.

That would mean it’s better than Russia missiles and is easy to integrate with NATO standard aircraft systems

By the second half of this decade, the UAE will be designing and producing a complete range of air-to-ground, air-to-air, naval, and ground-launched airborne weapon systems, with its own proprietary technology.
