OIC AGREES ON SETTING UP HUMANITARIAN TRUST FUND FOR AFGHANISTAN

Don't give funds to taliban. They are not trust worthy. They will use aid for weapons and jihad instead of poor children & education. World should place sanctions on afganistan for extremism, & serious violation of human rights.

So who in your opinion the funds should go to? Karzai, Ghani, Mohib, Amarullah Salah, Dostum, northern alliance thugs, NDS or ISIS??? 40 million Afghans are in desperate need right now. What do you propose?

Afghanis have choosen their faith themselves. They themself have choosen path of stone age. 2 lac army surrendered infront of few thousand taliban, they have soft corner for taliban and they want to live as it is. Majority of them like taliban , that's why they have chosen this path..
World can't do their fight when they themself don't want to change.

Thats fine, world can leave them on their own but what belong to them should be returned, starting with 9 billion dollars America has blocked.

Also when you say, they committed human rights violations yet you are adamant that Afghans by enlarge like Taliban, is a self contradictory statement.

Countries with a revolution don't beg to the oppressors for money. Taliban are literally begging US for aid after calling them evil for two decades.

Taliban are not begging rather giving an ultimatum.

They are saying you better pay your dues for destroying Afghanistan or else...

I see patwari butt hurt all over the Internet on this monumental success of IK
Regardless of political affiliation this is a sham and the foreign policy flops continue. NOBODY, despite repeated requests even want to come and see the Taliban delegation, none of them will recognize it and IK trying to justify HR issues in Afghanistan is doing nobody a favor neither is it going to magically convince all those countries to recognize the Taliban, TLDR;

At the end of the day America will be pulling the strings and deciding what's going to be the outlook for Afghanistan since they are the ones withholding the money.

Good to see that the resolution is being kept secret from the prying eyes of the US & the West.

The purpose of the meeting was not to provide recognition but to help avert the humanitarian crisis in Afg, and provide a Muslim voice to this issue (so far it has been only western driven agenda by bringing up certain HR issues etc.). The OIC has appointed a representative which will deal with the incumbent govt and a Fund has been setup to channel aid legally. The TB govt for the first time had a chamce to address at a global conference of this level. These are major major outcomes from Pakistans perspective- but what is the outcome of Indian meeting that you term as success? Nothing. They could only get 3 neighbors and two of the most important neighbors Pakistan and China are not even there. So its just a feel good groupie for Indians. Please understand the difference between a global scope vs a regional scope. For regional aspect, Pakistan is already driving the regional agenda by being part of the Troika-plus meetings and has kept India out of it.

Anyway, you may have an opinion, where as the world has its own:

All kudos to Pakistan for successful OIC moot
World leaders, govt functionaries, diplomats, analysts termed meeting as milestone achievement for Pakistan

European Union Ambassador in Pakistan Androulla Kaminara wrote on Twitter, “Congrats to Pakistan for successful OIC session. The EU has provided €300 M humanitarian aid for Afghanistan. Thanks to member states, total aid from EU more than 70% of total aid.”

US Special Representative Thomas West also called it a “productive OIC session with important outcomes” – not least the creation of a humanitarian trust fund and the naming of an OIC Special Envoy.

“The U.S. warmly welcomes the OIC’s role and contributions,” Thomas West said.

Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato Sri Saifuddin Abdullah, who attended the session and also met Prime Minister Imran Khan here, later took to Twitter commending Pakistan’s leadership in hosting the meeting to address the crisis in Afghanistan.

I don't know the contents with regards to India's meeting but the fact that those countries saw India as a more reliable partner to secure their interests rather than Pakistan should really be shocking. All this Gwadar, TAPI and central Asia connectivity but at the end of the day they look to India for help. Even Saudi Arabia only promised to give Aid in the form of consumables and other supplies not hard cash and like i said before declined Pakistan's offer to meet the Taliban delegation face to face, same with several other nations. The trust fund is also going to be at the behest of the US, whether they see it in their interests to release funds or not will be the deciding factor. None of these are 'major' nor are these in Pakistan's hands considering the current situation for Pakistan.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi Sunday said the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers had agreed to establish a humanitarian trust fund to help Afghanistan people, facing a dire situation, ARY News reported.

Addressing a joint press conference along with Secretary-General OIC Hissein Brahim Taha here at the conclusion of the 17th extraordinary session of OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, Qureshi also announced that the forum had also decided to launch a food security programme for the people of Afghanistan.

“Helping people of Afghanistan is a shared responsibility and despite the desire, Pakistan alone cannot meet their humanitarian needs,” Qureshi said and reiterated that a humanitarian crisis was looming in Afghanistan.

“We can have a difference of opinion with the Afghan authorities but our focus should be on 38 million people of Afghanistan,” said Qureshi, adding that neighbouring countries would also be adversely impacted if countries did not come forward to help Afghan people.

The foreign minister went on to say that there will be further follow-up meetings to alleviate the suffering of the Afghan people. He further said the Afghan delegation apprised the OIC meeting about the situation in Afghanistan.

OIC foreign ministers expressed unity and support for the people of Afghanistan in the meeting, he said.

Qureshi informed that the conference delegates agreed to appoint a special envoy of OIC for Afghanistan to engage with stakeholders.

The minister told that two documents had been unanimously adopted at the conference including a joint resolution on the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan and Islamabad declaration on the Palestinian situation.

Earlier today, addressing the session, PM Imran Khan warned that chaos in Afghanistan could cause the rise in terrorism. He reiterated that Pakistan is the most affected country due to the war in Afghanistan. He added that instability in Afghanistan will not only affect Pakistan but the whole world.

It is pertinent to mention here that the meeting of the 17th Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, held on the initiative of Saudi Arabia and hosted by Pakistan was attended by around 70 delegates from the member states, international aid agencies and special representatives.

WHEN will the afghans THEMSELVES negotiate on behalf of afghanistan and do something good for their country? WHY do they always rely in non-afghans?............ :disagree:

Hahahaha........I like the way you have twisted it, which otherwise turned out to be Sour Grapes... It's like you don't get food and dying of hunger but say," Thank God, at least I do not have high BP or diabetes because of eating.

This IOC summit was an utter failure..... The delegates even refused to click photos with Taliban representative as they do not recognise their government.....Special Meeting on Afghanistan talked about Palestine (even issued a statement on it)...but no one uttered a single word on Kashmir including Pakistan (not even Turkey...and remember all these are Muslim countries....who proved they don't give a single F*** to Kashmiri Muslim's plight, rights etc etc) and are wary of India due to their strategic interests......Clearly Indian diplomacy far exceeds ours.

Playing out the "Fund" move was smart.....Get the donation and control it....but it revealed how desperate IK is to get money...this relief fund could be in the form of relief supply goods, food etc.....given the hype created by Pakistan of so called humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan...then why Money and that too under the control of Pakistan?...For sure...if it materialises, it will be controlled by Saudi/US nexus....

Afghanistan will not get much...till there is a civil war and Talib govt. falls......Afghanistan will not be lost so easily by the west to the east (China/Russia).

Bro, agendas in these meetings are not spontaneous. Before the meeting, the diplomats of the reletad countries hold meetings between the delegations and the agenda of the summit is written by these delegations. Did Pakistan have such a request for this summit and was it rejected?
