The African Union has approved sending 3,300 troops to Mali for a year to resolve the crisis situation in the north of the country.

The UN Security Council earlier demanded concrete decisions about the size, financing and planned operations of the troops who will attempt to normalize the situation in Mali.

The exodus of Tuareg tribes from Libya led to a separatist war, and formation of a self-proclaimed state Azavad in April, which occupied two-thirds of Malian territory.
