Young Uighur girls struggle to live and work in Beijing

Life is hard for fresh college graduates, Beijing has the most and best universities in China, young people all over China come to Beijing for college and many of them try to stay in Beijing after they graduate, but life is hard due to the incredible fierce competition, cost of living is Beijing is also super high, some can manage though and become very successful, but many in the end have to go back to where they came from. Feel sorry for those fresh college graduates pursuing their dreams in Beijing.

How much better is Beijing/Shanghai compared to the 2nd-tier cities? Unless they graduate there and are very competent or ambitious, I don't understand why so many fresh graduates from other provinces have a 'dream' to move to 北上深 when there are so many cities in China with a decent standard of living.

Salaries and opportunities may be lower in the 2nd-tier cities but so are the rents and cost of living, not to mention the crowd and competition.

Maybe they like the challenge. Some say that they prefer the more open-minded mindset and diversity of people in the big cities, but is that worthwhile? Rent/property prices alone is a huge deterrence. Or am I missing something?

That's the difference between Chinese nowadays and some other status quo developed countries. Everyone has a dream, and try everything they can to full fill their dream. It makes difference for the country.

I also think it's not worth it to stick to first tier cities, a decade ago Beijing may have some clear advantages over smaller cities but now everything is almost the same of most Chinese cities, so there' s no point holding onto big cities, cities are being leveling out fast, but change of mentality doesn't change accordingly.

They look more Han than Uyghur
Many Uighurs look Han Chinese, they all have Uighur names and at 3:20, they speak Uighur on the phone.

See this Uighur girl, I think she also looks Han Chinese.

Some look like Chinese, and this is some Uigyurs who are detained in Indonesia due to terrorist activity. This detainee are more close to real Uigyur look like
