World Pres Freedom 2012

Iran banned Youtube and Facebook. I agree that we are at 158 but as I have been saying before for a long time Iran has less freedom than KSA. That's how it is. However that does not mean we have the best freedoms either, we seriously need a boost in that all of us both Iran and KSA.
well depend you asks women and I guess they would choose to live in Iran instead of KSA

Again Media is making things much much much worse than what it really is and is full of lies regarding this regard. I agree we have a lot to strive for still and a lot of reforms that need to be implemented and I do not deny this but again I am pretty sure that reality on the ground speaks otherwise.

I agree with the Ranking. I for myself seen the Media improve here over the years but then taken a huge blow because of the Arab Spring for the worse. I mean before the Arab Spring you can find a news paper extremely critical of the King and government and it was okay but it was toned down (You can see the arrow going downwards in the report). I also know in Iran propaganda is heavily exercised. I mean PressTV alone has become the joke of the Media world.

Lot's of banning on internet in Iran. We do have banning of the internet too but not as heavily as in Iran. I mean KSA has the highest per-captia viewers/posters on YouTube. Again I am not saying our Media is free and awesome but I am saying it is better than Iran. Despite the image Iran gives of "Barbaric Lizard Eating Saudis".
Well i didn't want to have comparison between two countries, but you don't even have one cinema in your country. What kind of freedom is that?
And of course lots of news agencies and newspapers are very critical about the government and even attack Ahmadinejad himself aggressively. But i still admit we are far from perfect.
And last thing is you can't judge the amount of freedom by per capita of YouTube viewers. That's ridiculous.
And about saying KSA is more free than Iran, that's a lie.Even foreign reporters admit it.
In Saudi Arabia women can't drive cars and they are being arrested for driving.
Saudi Arabia has lowest proportion of workforce for women (5%) in the world.
Saudi Arabian law does not recognize religious freedom and Shiite Muslims especially suffer from inequality and abuses.

Mosa i don't really know why in most of threads, you start comparison between countries and bashing Iran.It was not related to the topic, but i had to answer your post.

I was not the one to start the comparison LongBrained did.

Yes as I said before regarding Press freedom Saudi is more free than Iran. I wasn't judging by per captia I was saying that we had the most in the world while in Iran it is banned.
This thread and I was talking from the start on Press freedom not Women's rights. I agree Iran has it better in this point I didn't disagree on that. About Cinemas we will see about that soon. The content of the Cinema is available everywhere and movie rentals is one of the highest int he world here mainly cuz of the Cinema ban which will be lifted soon. The government is using the very old tactic of preparing the conservatives for it instead of shocking them with it. It is better this way. Are ALL movies from whatever source are allowed to enter Iran?? We are talking about Press freedom here.

Again I am not saying it is perfect here at all in fact it is terrible but Iranians MUST stop the "We are better than you in every way" mentality. You have to accept certain truths. Media in Iran is seriously curbed or have you forgotten about the public fogging of some guy who criticized the government. It was Iranians here who brought this subject up not me.

And again I do not want to keep this comparison up but I HAVE to answer your post.

By the way, if we forget the crimes of journalists in Pakistan as said by xataxsata , is there a relative freedom of press in Pakistan?
did u not hear about the girl frm a tv channel running around in a park of karachi, stalking couples who were on their dates? lmfao, yeap thats freedom rigth there

Iran never says that, and if did,i don't agree with that. Not only we are not complete, but we have a lot to be fixed in this country.

Disregard Musa. This person can not take part in a constructive argument without degenerating into something else. Anyways there is a reason why these people are happy to see and want to keep Iran an outcast. They know if Iranians continue on their path, they will become stronger by the day and at last US will have no option but to make a deal with Iran. This is not about freedom which Iran has plenty more than Saudi Arabia. Let me break the truth to you this is about this:

See the video, the guy is so happy that he thinks if Iranian missiles hit Israel then Israel will nuke Iran and finish it. He wants to dance for it in Trafalgar Sq. For these guys, Iran is worse than Israel, US or even Satan himself. Iran is worst of the worst.

Agreed 100%

I think you misunderstood me longbrained.I am an Iranian.why would i make Iran outcast?I just said we too have problems and need them to be fixed.

I know. I was pointing you to the fact of what Mosamania is. Since I no longer engage in any discussion with him, I put my reply to you so that you know. By outcasting, I did not mean you, I meant Saudi regime which is in US/Israel club against Iran.

No matter what fact I present to you, you choose to ignore them. It's your loss. I try to discuss with you in a civil manner all you do is scream "puppet" "conspiracy". Not because I have a different opinion and I refuse to follow yours it means I am "derailing the thread" I am sorry but debates don't work this way I am afraid.

As you can see, he has degenerated into mimicry. Anyways, atleast Iranian women can drive, work and live. Under Saudi regime being a woman means you can not even drive. And I am sure there is more criticisim in Iranian parliament and press in a week than you can find in a decade in Saudi Arabia. My friends tell me that merely mentioning something against Saudi regime can get you killed.

God with the driving again. Imagine a flood that has torn down a dam. This dam still have a few rocks and pieces in place but it is not holding the flow. Driving is one of these rocks that in time will be torn down as well. But the water still flows. This is the case of wo,men driving in Saudi Arabia. Women in KSA also work and live. My mother is a surgeon (yeah I know shocking).

It is not the regime's fault despite what you want to believe. I commend the regime for trying to wash away the old thoughts and bringing the new ones. It is enduring an enormous challenge, it's main rivals are the ultra conservatives not the other way around. And don't try to teach me about my own country I know you will.

Your friends tell you wrong. Maybe part of the whole dark image you have. I agree and I have already said press freedom is not the best and it needs working on but your thoughts of Saudi Arabia is downright disgusting. I haven't forgotten your post about how "most married Saudi women are wh0rea" either.
