On this Veteran's Day, does the opinion of the troops hold any real sway over decision makers in Washington?

They did same melodramatics when US deep state wanted to foster public sentiment against Iraq war in 2000s. Now they want to slowly prepare the masses for retreat.

Considering Black Jack, the founding father of the modern American war machine's defining characteristic was shutting up, I would say not, for whether Washington wants opinions.

There is a 3 part documentary done by Vice HBO from 2014. There's a US major featured in it. That guy really wanted to bring change. He reported every crooked thing done by NA. But nothing. Higher command ignored it. In the end of the documentary you can see the hopelessness on his face. That was 6 years ago.

US isn't delivering democracy to Afghanistan. They want someone in control who's under their command. Its NA today and they are supporting them while ignoring the faults of NA. US is just supporting NA who is fighting civil war against Taliban just like we did.

P.S. In the documentary mentioned above US was packing up to leave Afghanistan.

Also the fact that even for US troops the objective is to just complete deployment with your limbs intact and then get the hell out now. And this was 6 years ago.
It looks to me that US is just in Afg to keep an eye on China and Russia.
