one major reason is lack of will power of govt leadership,after 1971 when our condition is very adverse, bhutto showed strong commitment to develop nukes and carried out aggressive diplomacy and foreign visits to arrange finance and other resources for getting capability to develop nuclear weapons but ik has no such ability and is failing everyday,he is only good at making speeches but not has courage and capability to achieve something extraordinary for Pakistan

and importing policies and customs corruption encouraged business to import rather than work hard and manufactur in pKaistan

Alhamdulillah for that. Hope more Madaris with quality Deeni education are established. our madaris, unlike our universities, actually do their work with sincerity, without any fees, so much so that even foreigners study here. while unis like habib, lums etc have failed miserably despite charging millions, and despite being established by leading industrial families.

here is a suggestion, why dont you come back to Pakistan and invest in all of those things? why dont you come over here and establish a factory or whatnot instead of whining about it and blaming failures of people like yourself on others? why dont you put your money where your mouth is?

Problem 1: Medicine is a reseachi intensive industry. Pakistan, overall, is a capital daficiant country.
Problem 2: With Government debt standing way over 43 Trillion PKR and a debt to GDP of more than 100%, government's need for funds overweigh the needs of private sector, resulting in a crowding out and lack of funding for Pharma Industry. Just in last two years the debt has balloned by 40% leaving little funds for private sector.
Problem 3: Very high cost of USFDA complaint plant. Pakistan doesn't have a single FDA complaint manufacturing unit in Pharma as the cost of acquiring this status is about 200 Million USD. With exchange rate depriciating from 80 to 160, the cost of investment has doubled over last 5 years. Without USFDA compliance, the export and sales prospect of a pharma plant and the ability to get contract work from world renowned companies is pretty much zero. India makes up for some 20% (200+ plants) of total USFDA approved plants. Even banglades has some 5+ USFDA approved plants.

Not if you have millions sat in madaris and more millions frothing about hereafter. Look at China. Exactly how many of them are frothing about the hereafter. But billion are breaking their backs on hereto. And have a look at their country. That is why they send their young to build our motorways. What can we offer them.
