Why do we attend so many weddings?

The biggest wedding I've been to was around 400 people. Honestly, I think even half of the people would fail to qualify being close friends, neighbours or relatives within 3 degrees of separation.

Its a suffocating culture which equates success to marriage both material and immaterial which then pounces on the sheer consumerism rampant in the society.

Overall it is one of the main reasons of corruption and moral decay of the society in Pakistan.
