True. Iran is a lot of desert and mountains too, but plenty of space for more population if we need (which we don't!).

KSA has good locations, big coastline access to Persian Gulf (albeit mostly the northern PG which is less strategic), and huge coastline with Red Sea that has a lot of potential (and good alternative to Persian Gulf for oil exports)

Too much population without resources is a bad thing - look at Bangladesh for example (and Pakistan as well)
