Saladin's example don't fit here..He was a cavalry commander and cavalry don't even exist today

More over, WHOLE spectrum of warfare has changed since then..so absolutely NO comparison from Salahdin's victory etc...Arabs still has to show talents in today's warfare..

Saladin first surrounded the whole crusader kingdom (A very wise strategic move of Zangi+Saladin), blocked the crusaders' access to the water at battle of Hatin (which was decisive factor) and yes he waited for the crusaders to become as weak as possible (a thing that every genius general would do) and eventually he attacked and just annihilated the crusaders and took back the Jerusalem----
ultimate victory!
I don't know whether he was a great General or not..but he was a great leader for sure.
