Who is responsible for Economic Crisis in Pakistan?

The state of the economy at the most simplistic and granular level is a representation of cultural and behavioural ethos of a country.
There are upswings and downturns, but in the fullness of time, the policy makers seem to be from within the normal curve that is representative of the population. Hence minor blips in decision making aside, the historical average of the economy on a long timeline is basically a sum total of all the decisions a population has made, in terms of production, consumption, exports, imports, etc.
It's a mirror for us to get a reality check of who we truly are, in terms of our value systems, discipline and other attitudinal parameters. It is an oversimplified average representation of how an Indian or a Pakistani gets up in the morning and attempts at accomplishing a task.
We suck in our attitudes. period. We will find it difficult to ever be able to challenge the true 'masters' of this world.

In our case unfortunately, we are still after personalities and not after policies. The debate on economic policies in assembly is a rare sight, opposition mostly crying foul at every policy without presenting a true or alternate solution.

Answering the title of this thread,

Those who gave NRO are responsible for current economic situation. It is nothing less than a treason to pardon all the corrupts who sucked the blood out of this country. We cannot expect our economy to act good under the shadows of NRO. Still the NROs are happening from national level to county level. Every MNA, MPA, Bureaucrat, Businessman, Judge, ......., Media Owner taking NRO for their closed ones in return of petty plea bargain amounts.

When I look at the thread and the posts people are sharing beyond personal insults one thing which pops up right away is that Pakistanis/Pakistanis by origin are deeply concerned about Pakistan, there is a deep underlying love for the country, and all of the guys/gals want Pakistan to prosper. This thing is common and and I love it.

The difference however is who is responsible for the sorry state of affairs Pakistan is in and that is where majority of the difference in opinion lies.

I'll try and answer that part later.

You my friend are not really comfortable with the progress or initiatives incumbent Govt is undertaking, while many of the PTI followers think you are a follower of Noora league and defending them through criticism of IK and Govt.

Now about economic woes of Pakistan, let me take you back to the 60 most of us were not even born then Pakistan was progressing and one of the fastest growing economy having local industry at the verge of making indigenous cars.

Then Bhutto happened, I am not questioning the idiocy of fauji ruler of that time, but he and mujeeb are the ones primarily responsible for putting an end to economic development of both countries.

After that the most stupid economic decision of our existence nationalization of industry which totally destroyed the industrial activity of the country.

Then came ameer ul momineen an extension of bhutto’s economic policies and further by making Armed Forces property dealers and business conglomerate. The whole damn nation has become property dealer, any gathering of friends/colleagues/relatives is not completed without discussion on real estate schemes and files. Oh did I forget to mention the raising and nurturing of sectarian/religious extremism and divide among Pakistan fully funded by our “brotherly countries”

Real estate the worst type of investment besides having economic and religious repercussions.

After Zia came the musical chair sessions of corruption then progressive Pakistan, then again two corrupt regimes; bureaucracy became corrupt, incompetent and rotten to the core.

It is only during Zarb e Azab that powers be understood that corruption leads to terrorism, rather FATF made us swallow that better pill to get out of our delusional state.

I am in finance and despite my reservations about fauji and IK resolve and competence on tackling issues haunting Pakistan and the incompetence of their teams, I know for sure some very good decisions are being made. Decision which have long term positive outcome for Pakistan provided the policies made now are not altered soon.

I have been travelling internationally on the green passport for about three decades despite the fact I could get a stars and stripe one or the L'Unifolie, we have gone down the drain in the last 30 year not because of one family or the other; all of the rulers/buraeucrats/faujis who encouraged corruption and property dealing all Pakistani nationals who did not bother to take a risk of investing in industry and rather preferred raising plazas for rental purposes and doing trading of property files.

I have only this much time today.

BTW: my signatures have 4 messages two for our eastern and farther down east people but first two I mean them. There is no point in getting involved in a petty squabble.

Truth is, today Pakistan is not only an economic mess.
