Any country that enjoys a solitary existence. Britain was cut off from continental europe and its heydays were the longest during european era. USA kept growing, away from the happening of the rest of the world and it became a superpower. other countries that come to my mind in todays world are countries of americas, japan, indonesia, australia, southafrica, newzeland etc

So you suggest, if we depopulate Switzerland from it's native people and fill it with middle eastern's then we will see the same Switzerland in the next 1000 years, and vise versa, no I guess you are messing culture and education factors with geopolitics.

I like cutoff from the world geography like US as it protected them from spillovers around the world, opposite to this Pakistan is at crossroads of Asia that can suffer every spillover, but there is another part this geography can be big advantage once the whole region start growing as the country can present itself as hub(if society is liberal) and that can help in achieving high per capita in region but if the region is in turmoil than it is a big bane.
