Wheeling an education into India's slums

Wheeling an education into India's slums
Children who cannot afford education now benefit from charity's mobile classroom programme.
Last Modified: 23 Dec 2011 19:19

For millions of India's poorest children, education is a luxury, not a right. Many impoverished young people live in slums and help support their families by taking on odd jobs.

One charity organisation is taking the issue to the streets, in the form of a mobile classroom that brings education to children who cannot attend schools.

Al Jazeera's Prerna Suri reports from New Delhi.

Why they propagate false propaganda through out the world. Actually the journalist doesn't having the knowledge abt real facts. Mobile classroom doesn't mean that there is no ryts for children education , India also having mobile courts so wat it means???

Education is cheap/free in India, have u knw that?

Al Jazeera is one of the most anti Indian channel out there, more so than most Pak Channels

Things could change now that Al-Jazeera won the licence last month to broadcast in India.

New Delhi: Qatar-based Al Jazeera Network on Thursday announced the launch of its news channel Al Jazeera English across India on Dish TV and plans to tie-up with other direct-to-home (DTH) platforms to spread its reach.
The network is also considering launching a Hindi news channel in the country.

"Al Jazeera English has just completed five years internationally and to announce its national launch in India is a significant step forward given the potential of the market here," Al Jazeera English Managing Director Al Anstey told.

Hmm i see nothing anti India here... and if anyone notices tht India seems to be coming alot on Aljazera its cus they already have broadcasting rights in India.

at least i get it on my "Dish TV"

May be because it was not allowed to broadcast in India. It is trying since 2006 to enter Indian markets

That is quite a conspiracy theory.

Out of all the reasons to have a grudge, being unable to enter a specific national market is pretty low on the list.

Companies find it hard to get into specific markets all the time. Would they hold a grudge against all the markets that were difficult to enter?

By the way, Al Jazeera currently broadcasts in India, but not in China. So where is the logic?

Curbing free media?lol... its not anti india.. infact its a good idea... open your mind instead of ranting without logic.

Media is an important part of branding any country do. It is a medium through which investors connects to a country. This is a way media uses to arm twist countries into allowing to broadcast in that country. It makes immense business sense

Nevertheless its a brilliant idea... i think we also have these kinds of schools in our country.... in my hometown army has built big schools which educate needy kids for free.... Every developing country should have these kind of programes.

This is not any conspiracy theory. The kind tactics used by companies to enter markets are much more un ethical.

Indian market is not just another market for Al-Jazeera. For Al-Jazeera Indian and US are the most important markets that it is trying to enter but without much success
