These politicians do this to tell the US administration that they have massive support in Pakistan and a little pressure on Pakistani establishment will force it to bring them in office, after which they will protect US interests and do what US wants.
Nothing will happen as Alhamdolillah US has herself brought her influence down. No one in Pakistan listens to US rants anymore. And no one listens to her stooges who are in jails no matter how bad they show their medical reports are.
The most they can do is making noises to expose themselves in front of public. Slowly but gradually they will die a painful political death. Any mishandling of the situation by the state will bring life too their almost dead political careers.
