What Is China Doing To Pakistan? The Same Thing It Did To Sri Lanka

We are not interested in your Crocodile tears.

Not seeking the kind of democracy brought to Iraq and Afghanistan. No Thanks.

China is our loyal and dependable friend.

I am beginning to doubt that, seriously. We are seeking a USD 6 Billion load from IMF that China can just as easily front us at lower markup rates and without attached conditions but is it doing that at all? Is Chine trying to bail out her friend Pakistan?

On the contrary, when we were indeed in friendship with the US, the US ensured our prosperity and supported us at every turn. I am beginning to wonder if we have made the right decision of parting ways with US and siding with China.

China owes nothing to Pakistan. Why shouldnt they be hard nosed business men? Its for Pakistan to look after its interests. No sentiments in business.
India faced similar issues with enron type companies after liberalisation. But the tubelight in the government finally switched on that the assured returns enron was seeking in its project were not finacially viable. And the project was scraped.

The most envious thing that India did after partition was the land reform act, of taking back land from extremely large land owners who had mostly been awarded by the British for their loyalty to the British. We could never do that and so we are still under control of these land owners who make up all the National and Provincial Assembly seats from rural areas.

This way u will always keep wondering bro.

One day u will regret siding with China
The next with USA or anyone else.

We have to wakeup and become a ghairatmand, honest, hardworking qoum.

Right now we are a jaahil hoard where corruption has become glamourized by a group of a few crime/mafia-like families.

You people talk about international relations like high school kids. Would you give a loan to someone who's in the habit of borrowing too much, spending even more and paying back very little? I wouldn't.

CPEC is an investment, not an Eid gift or dowry. If you don't pay your bills, you'll lose your new toys. Such is life.

And how to do that when all those in power, be in the Military or the Ministry, parliament or assembly etc., are all corrupt leeches to the core, milking the country and Pakistanis dry for their individual and sometimes collective benefits?

The last IMF program was completed 'successfully' by Ishaq Dar under the PML Government. I was not talking about gifts or grants but rather a loan. That's what we do with our friends, we loan money until they get back on their feet, and we do not abuse them or put conditions of the loan.

Well a banana Republic is -
"
In political science, the term banana republicdescribes a politically unstable country with an economy dependent upon the exportation of a limited-resource product, such as bananas or minerals. In 1901, the American author O. Henrycoined the term to describe Honduras and neighbouring countries under economic exploitationby U.S. corporations, such as the United Fruit Company. Typically, a banana republic has a society of extremely stratified social classes, usually a large impoverished working class and a ruling-class plutocracy, composed of the business, political and military elites of that society.[1] Such a ruling-class oligarchy control the primary sector of the economyby way of the exploitation of labour;[2] thus, the term banana republic is a pejorative descriptor for a servile dictatorship that abets and supports, for kickbacks, the exploitation of large-scale plantation agriculture, especially banana cultivation.[2]"
In economics, a banana republic is a country with an economy of state capitalism, by which economic model the country is operated as a privatecommercial enterprise for the exclusive profit of the ruling class. Such exploitation is enabled by collusion between the state and favored economic monopolies, in which the profit, derived from the private exploitation of public lands, is private property, while the debts incurred thereby are the financial responsibility of the public treasury. Such an imbalanced economy remains limited by the uneven economic development of town and country, and usually reduces the national currency into devalued banknotes (paper money), rendering the country ineligible for international development credit.[3]"

Pakistan does not have a single export earner.

Frankly Pakistan is just a whipping boy for our political class.
Unfortunately Pakistan has managed to inveigle itself into a average Indian's thought process by acts like the Mumbai attacks.
Many of us who interact with other nationalities , approach everyday issues without nationalistic glasses on.
But its fascinating to me that Pakistanis from the UK hold some of the most regressive viewpoints of all the Pakistanis I have met. Maybe you can tell the reason why?

Regressive, yet the British Home Secretary (2nd only to the British Prime-Minister) is Pakistani as is the mayor of London.............:azn:

Did the americans help Pakistan become a nuclear weapons state?

Did the americans help Pakistan become a nuclear weapons state?

No, they basically tried to prevent it and later on turned a blind eye to the Nuclear program while we were helping them against the Soviets in Afghanistan, later on they imposed the Pressler amendment. However, the Americans never wanted any other country to have a Nuclear plan either including her allies such as Japan, Korea etc.

The US GAVE Pakistan at least $36 billion. Not a loan. Not a reduced rate loan. Just gave that money. Even today it pays Pakistan CRF money because a few trucks drive on Pakistani roads. When and if China drives trucks down these roads you will be collecting tolls to pay China on terms too "sensitive" to inform Pakistani awam of those terms.

Please ignite in flames with all that hate and anger inside of you.

You people are totally obsessed with Pakistan.

We don’t care what you think.

without china, Pakistan is a banana republic because of its own stupid faults and by no means China so deeply loves Pakistan.... its all about self interests.
Facts.

Facts. Pakistan used most of the money for the military.
