Indian trade is just part of Collateral damage and will be lifted asap as the China trade deal materialize. I dont think it is too much of US vs rest of the world at least as of yet. Only China is hard hit and no one else. For India it is hardly $200M that was affected. but for China is $400B that get affected.


Also replacing the big tech from US Silicon and Software companies are not short term, such Silicon and Software take years of funding, talent and time to reach to same level. Do you think Huawei can replace Intel, AMD, ARM Silicon and Android, iOS, Ericsson big software in couple of years? well if they can i would say, they will make the history.

As I said, people in non-Western-allied countries will buy Chinese goods. Blacklisting by USA won't dissuade others from buying Chinese goods. Also, the Technology for making the lower quality items are already with China. China has 28nm semiconductor techology which is inferior to 14nm by USA but still good enough for most applications. Similarly, other items too have a lower quality replacement and will sell if prices are lowered

Why will customer listen to USA without a significant bargain? Countries like India have a significant independence from any strategic dependency on USA. India can just ignore USA demand and trade with China. Only EU has dependence on USA in strategic domain and hence have to toe USA line. Iranian oil was sanctioned because of Saudi Arabia insisting on it. India acceded KSA and GCC request, not USA one. Did you see how KSA brought down oil prices from $75 to $65 after sanctions? That is the bargain for not buying Iranian oil.

If India has to stop buying Chinese goods, USA will have to offer discount like Saudi Arabia. Can USA afford to do that?
