China just overtook Japan's GDP a couple of years ago, now China's GDP is more than twice of Japan's and the latter's economy is in tatters. S.Korea's economy and growth is far behind China's. so those two countries will be further left behind in the dust in the future,they are not China's concerns. China concerns more about who is catching up if there's any.

GDP is irrelevant to living condition of individuals, you know.

It's just a GDP compare. We know our GDP per person is low. But it's not what this artical for.
And by the way, if something bad happen between China and Vietnam, China will neither use only 2% of its power to react.
