See, these are Pakistani military doctors, and they still wear Sarhee. It's a beautiful attire. I admire it. But Srilanka is a country, not school. People should have freedom of whatever they like to wear.

When muslims protest about hijab, what's wrong with Sri Lankans wearing sarees?

Infact, muslims in European countries protest on hijab ban when in reality they're the ones who immigrated for a better life and should respect their laws. Ironically, y'all want rules which suits you the best and all non-muslims are kafirs

yes they protest on ban, how is this anyone's business what i wear, yes those Muslims migrated with hijab on their heads and at that times western countries had no problem. Why only ban on Hijab, why no ban on any men's dress. Because Muslim woman look so pretty in Hijab and it is such a convenient attire that west fears it would spread to their women and then the whole fashion industry goes down shithole.

Yes, all are tamils.

Ethnicity in Sri Lanka (2012)

Sinhala (74%)
Tamil (18%)
Other (8%)
tamils are the biggest problems to srilanka

proper attire
so abaya is not a proper attire

the audacity to defend shitty behavior xD

Lol that is such a pathetic response

yes off course because it doesn't set with your mentality of making woman an sexual object
Wearing a decent dress like a saree or a salwar kameez doesn't make one a sexual object. The way you perceive lies with the eyes of the beholder and it is evident that's how you'll perceive women if they don't wear a hijab and cover their body in entirety

why does it lit fire in you Indian man hearing the word Hijab lol
don't worry we will never let your beautiful woman wear hijab ever.

govt ban is justified , abaya is not SLankan plus it poses a security threat

With interrogation of suspects and other evidence pointing to the involvement of a large number of women in Easter Sunday attacks, the government has yesterday initiated moves in view of a possible ban of burqa and niqab in Sri Lanka, a highly placed government source said.

The government, he said, is planning to implement the move in consultation with the mosque authorities and yesterday several ministers had spoken to President Maithripala Sirisena on the matter.

It has been pointed out that burqa and niqab were never part of the traditional attire of Muslim women in Sri Lanka until the gulf war in the early 1990s which saw extremist elements introducing the garb to Muslim women.

Defence sources had revealed that a number of female accomplices of incidents in Dematagoda too had escaped wearing burqas.
