What's new

We should stop producing just engineers

What we need is every university, collage, school should forward names of potential students who have appetite for invention and groom them so they can enhance us a nation but this need commitment from govt and education institute.

man.. it is heart breaking how people like Razaq Daud, Hafeez Sheikh and Baqir are openly doing conflict of interest and IK will be liable. These people will go back unharmed after strengthening their business.

I do not believe whatever this patwari economist Zubair says.... first when PTI took over he was shouting on tv shows why aren't they going to IMF, now when PTI went to IMF he is shouting why did they go to IMF.

The other guy is Ashaq whatever, he is such a brilliant economist, his strategy to cut current account deficit was to ban all imports. Mashallah kahan kahan se oth ke atay hain yeh "experts".

Not surprised that wannabe expert of all topics Mr. Maalik has both on his show and no other dissenting voice.

Producing engineers or not, government should encourage startups.
Well, I agree with Mr. Zubair about Moody's and S&P and their biased credit rating. One of the reason of 2008 financial crisis was this biased rating by "Big Three" rating agencies.

we need more scientists now a days
For sure man we need researchers whether in science, social science or in accounting, economics etc.
@Syed1.
Man I really don't know abc of it but that conflict of interest is damn. You know, even in 92 politicians from Sindh and Baluchistan bought many plots in Gawadar. Anyway, investment got delayed. But gimmicks like buying shares in one company but creating another company and saying I have retired from first company so I am not the beneficiary is childish though effective may be.

All Pakistan needs is quality education + tarbeat, so that people can question. Pakistan is kept jahil by design, Pakistan needs to educate masses on emergency bases and in a decade see all the problems of Pakistan vanish.

My Long Reply:

This is what used to happen in USSR. The future of young children was ascertained in their high school; children were given fixed careers which they could not change in later life.

In Pakistan, who do you think will choose the bright children who will "invent and discover"?. Do you not think that people will start choosing their "bhanja, bhateeja" for the "inventions"?. Do you not think that people could become "inventors" after bribing the selection committee?. I'm pretty sure that would not work in Pakistan.

By the way, selecting a few students to excel in a field is unfair to the other students that might have different latent abilities. In Islam( and any other such modern society) their is no room for any USSR type socialism and everyone in the society will have to work hard in order to rise up in the society.

Furthermore, it's not just about the profession of engineering; people from human and social sciences have fail to deliver. Even people from the Economic sciences have failed to deliver in Pakistan. Have you not seen the helplessness of our county's finance team? Do you not see how we have to import people from the West to manage the finances of the country?

The Pakistani culture strongly entangles every field of work.

The moment Pakistan frees herself from the stock culture of the sub-continent, every line of work will start to show the beauty of "Husn-e-Ikhlaq". Every profession will have people who will be honest to themselves and honest to the society.

Any effort by Pakistani government to train people technically for the betterment of the country will be artificial and useless, unless the people are taught to be of a perfect character in the society. This needs to be done to children at an early stage.

Children need not to me admitted to school at the young age of 4. They are taught the useless ABC and 123 up till 5th grade with no purification of their character what so ever. At this age of learning, they need to be taught all principles of morality and respect for other human beings. Its unfortunate that such things are learnt by most people later in life ,if they happen to open and read the Quran.

Such principles of "Huquq-ul-Ebaad" must be ingrained to children from a very young age so they can become empathetic professionals in later life who care about all sections of the society.

Then I think there should be same standard of education all over Pakistan and start compulsory skill training from early age from programming to tig wielding like in usa.

What's the point of the thread title?
overall.... FSc students are told to go for either electrical, computer , telecom, mech degree.. The lot which doesn't perform well go for FA, BA and even that in social science mainly. But few actually go for economics, commerce etc etc.. a quick glance in your relative occupation may reveal that. so that is title.

Brilliant points raised. We need benevolent, cultured professionals who are immune to corruption, not simply professionals.
