Rs2b subsidy on metro bus as CM refuses fare hike

THE Punjab government has allocated Rs 2 billion hefty amount for Metro Bus subsidy while Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has refused to increase its fare.

The provincial government has allocated Rs one billion for transport sector subsidy during the ongoing fiscal year which was reduced to 248.2 million in the revised estimates. Out of Rs 248.2 million, almost Rs 100 million was given to Metro Bus as subsidy.

The purpose of a government is to provide a better life to its citizens. In that regards, if they have to provide subsidies, than that should be it. Once your tax base grows and the economy improves and people start to make more money, it may not be needed.

I met Lick-Man long time ago in Islamabad. This guy didn't know how to wear a suite properly, let alone talk. He came in with a senior journalist from the Geo group and back then, he used to lick their boots so he could meet the "foreigners" and gain some influence in his little standing. Back then, he was threatening and blackmailing industrialists and all. And you have proofs like the proofs he presents!!! No wonder, your society is as corrupt as it can be. But the blame is pointed to the person of choice!

NAB had proofs against Asif Ali Zardari. They were going to take all that to court. PPP government what they did was fired all senior NAB officers and replaced them with their own people. All proofs are destroyed. Then these officers are put back in their place when supreme court comes in and says that their firing was unconstitutional. Then NAB takes blame for their "inability" to present proof against zardari and others in court. That's how it is in Pakistan.

There is no getting personal. Let's establish the facts:
1) NS in his first time around early 90's was involved with corruption. Everyone knows it.
2) Zadari family has ALWAYS been involved with corruption. And he'll never change as his background starts with corruption. Its funny when the Indians say "a tea boy became the PM of India", well.....years before that, a guy who used to sell Cinema tickets and drugs, became the President of Pakistan (Zardari)
3) Mushy was involved with corruption. You should go see his son's homes and their worth in the US, not to mention the farms and the homes he owns.
4) NS's second term, none of these guys have done corruption. Its why IK and others are super concerned because they see these guys making serious progress and winning the next government also. These guys are behind a legacy and they'll probably create one a they are hell bent in finishing up the electrical outage issue and bring in the investment to turn Pakistan into a modern country. In the 70 years of this country's history, the foreign investors have a confidence about Pakistan that has never been seen before. That's a fact. I watch the market and strategic investments and all. Trust me, I know what I am talking about.

Zardari wasn't "forgiven" by NS. As a President, per your constitution, you are to some degree above the law or have the Presidential Privileges to not be indited. Its your constitution and majority of the world's. You can impeach him but he ain't going to jail for anything. Sad but true. Before you shift blame to others, people who elected a corrupt person like this, should be questioned and educated properly about their voting rights.

As I said no point in flaffing around with me. If there are any allegations of corruption against PPP and the government has any evidence then Zardari should be put behind bars.

So the subsidy is only for metro bus. Not for medicines, education, food items and more other important departments ? Don't give me useless rubbish excuses.

You'll never find me arguing with your statements. Zardari is more corrupt and money hungry than the Pirates of the Carridean. There is no doubt in my mind. However, you can't mix Flour and Salt together, because they look the same color. Similarly, NS's team, just in the past 3 years, has a HUGE portfolio of projects that is benefiting the entire country. You can't put him or his team in the same league Zardari. I think Zardari needed to be behind bars. 200 BILLION corruption is a LOT of money for a country the size of Pakistan and its poor system. That should be considered treason. But, your own public brought his party to power and then further, messed up by giving him Presidential powers and a free ticket home by making him the President?? Somewhere along the line, the PEOPLE need to see what they are doing wrong too, and who the heck they are voting for, without a track record of doing anything for the country!!

You are missing the point. The Presidential Powers is what has gotten Zardari a free ticket to ride anything. Others don't have any say in it, so they'll have to work with him. Presidents always have powers but its his election to the postion, which brings bad repute to the authority.

1) You are mistaken if you think the current elections which happened two years ago, were rigged to bring in a majority. That's just pure false accusation and has no basis outside of the Military's hate for NS and thus, birth of IK into making him a leader.

Let me tell you something, you think that drama from falling off the lift was something real and it really cause so much damage to IK's body who wears bullet proof vest to reality. It was ALL staged to get people to sympathize with IK to win last minute votes. And it had a huge impact in turning him into a "leader" by showing him in the hospital hurting BUT talking about Pakistan and how to support his change about Pakistan, well written by a previous general who's been visiting Islamabad from Dubai a lot during IK's different shows . IK is ALSO a UK resident, just so you know.Its something in your politicians' blood that they can't live without the West's immigration or citizenships!! Btw, NS and his family don't have it. They can go anywhere they want to, but they don't have "allegiance" to other countries.

2) Pakistani politicians and generals are all wired for foreign influence. There is no doubt about it. But, you should add "generals" in there too where its deserved, instead of grilling politicians only. Let's be fair to the situation. Where is Mushy's son settled? And where is his millions of dollars worth of investments sent to? I can give you a lot more names if you like . Any defense purchase has your Army and its generals cut and its divided between them as a team. Gen. Raheel Sharif, in recent times, is the ONLY guy who's not going to do this. Outside of it, everyone did this to some degree, period!! So long story short, everyone's in Pakistan's leadership, whether civilian or not, has the shinny word "Corrupted" on their forehead.

The current term has so far been the cleanest out of all 70 years. Let's hope the system creates a Pakistan out of this term, which can become more modern and successful and without military influence so it can run by people who can take it forward. Rules by the people, not by thieves or the dictators!
