The problem with HIV is how little awareness there is about the disease. Not to mention the social stigma, a person who has contracted HIV will never come clean about it and because of that he/she becomes a lethal carrier of the disease.
If we could create a "scare" campaign against HIV; we could considerably reduce drug usage as well as boost use of contraceptives; even in marriages.

I never mentioned any religion relationship with aids. It's predominantly associated with people with high risk professions are areas with poor medical care

Once upon a time time aids was rampant in South. Four states constituted more than 50% of India cases. Even first case in India was reported in Tamil Nadu

But that was long time ago. Sex education and other measures are helping
Govt initiatives are bearing fruit.
