Welcome to your former east Pakistan, now Bangladesh. Hotel Radisson is really beautiful. It is true that this Hotel is owned by the military. We are following the same Pakistan style, whereby a fund is created out of Pension or Welfare funds of the Armed Forces Personnels. The business profits are then distributed among all the shareholders/contributors. No one ever heard of corruptions in this type of businesses.

I think there is nothing to see in Dhaka except the people and traffic jam right now. But may be the north area near Jahangir Nagar.

Can someone suggest any interesting place to visit in Dhaka?

It is on army land (yeah they own vast patches of land all across the country :P). Enjoy your stay.

Sonargaon has better service.

It is very far from the airport and the area has very bad traffic.

@ What do mean by this statement ??? You are talking like the "TV Talk Show" of Mumtasir Mamun.

@ All the areas in an around Tajgaon and Kormitula airport were acquired during the British period in 1942 once Second War was going on. These two airports were made by the American/British during that times in order to facilitates shipments of military armament to Chinese General Chiankaishek. These airports were also used to help for the Burma Campaign. During those days there were no military garrison in these areas. Military was stationed at old High Court building, Dacca Medical College was used as CMH rather made for the military/war injured. War injury was so great in number that they extend it to Salimulla Hall.

@ Once Pakistan was created, the 16 Division HQ was shifted to present Dhaka Cantonment since than all the properties own by the then British Royel Airforce automatically came to BAF and Bangladesh Armed Forces.
