Vietnam intends to increase 18 GW of solar and wind power against power shortage

According to the figure released by the Ministry of Industry and Trade yesterday, there will be varying degrees of power shortages from 2019 to 2025. The most serious shortage will be concentrated in the dry season from 2020 to 2023, with production shortages ranging from 1.5 billion kWh to 5 billion kWh.

To address the challenge, Vietnam is going to change its power supply from the following respects: Firstly, replace the fuel oil with LNG in some firepower plants. Secondly, sign a power purchase contract with Laos for power importing. Thirdly, develop another 6GW of solar power and 12GW of wind power which is not in the original power development plan.

Tremendous demand for electricity flourishes the Vietnam renewable energy market, which also catches the eyes of investors. Renewable energy has become the most attractive sphere after financing, technology, and education in 2019, according to the report from Financial Times. Most excitingly, to commissioned its electricity target for 2030, from now on, Vietnam needs around 10 billion USD a year. In that case, Many companies such as B.Grimm, Sunseap Group, Vina Capital, Macquarie, Trina and etc, are looking to have their own entries in this land.

At this pace we will reduce fuel and coal imports to fire power plants to a minimum in 20 years.

and global warming is nothing related to Solar energy, Solar energy need SUN to produce electricity that East Asian countries almost lack @Viet :crazy::crazy:
Vietnam is a tropical country, bro. I came from Nhatrang, a beach town that has never seen snowfall in entire history :D

Tropical country means lot a cloud cover and rain you have, you can produce solar energy much, just like EU countries like UK/France/Germany, best palaces for Solar energy on the Earth are Middle Eastern countries/ Northern Africa/ Pakistan/Iran but not Vietnam, TROPICAL COUNTRIES MEANS LOTS OF RAIN/CLOUD COVER in most of the year @Viet

Ok sun radiation elsewhere is higher. in Vietnam is lower but still enough to generate 100 GW solar energy per conservative estimate. Rooftop solar generates alone 11 GW once all current projects are done. How’s solar development in Pakistan?
