Venezuelans flee to the US in search of better lives

at least China paid for it

Hey @NoOne'sBoy do you have an opinion of China's "paid for it" when it comes to Sri Lanka? Do you think things were on the level? Or do you think this was China taking advantage of Sri Lanka? Venezuela's gold reserves are now under $8Billion. How far...nobody knows.

You really do wonder why US standing in many South American nations has been historically low?

It is not as bad as you make it.

What does this have to do with this thread on Venezuela? Why are you trying to change/derail the topic?

2015 http://money.cnn.com/2015/10/29/news/economy/venezuela-selling-gold/index.html
Venezuela is running out of cash and selling its gold

2016 http://real-agenda.com/venezuela-sells-gold-pay-bills/
Venezuela sells its gold to pay the Bills
Well you are pretty economical with truth. No doubt venezuela had/has some brilliant self serving idiots who have dragged the country to disaster. But US has also had big part in sabotaging oil installations and conducting subversive activities.
US also has backed private companies like goldman sachs buying their bonds for cents and trying to squeeze more money out of it.

The bonds that goldman sachs are now infamously known as hunger bonds and are directly funding the venezuelan regime.

You Americans are sore losers. You like to take jibes at China when you are too busy waging wars and electing bigots as your leaders. Too bad China is investing money and building bridges when you are too busy denying climate change and waging wars with other nations.

LOL we know how good your ratings are buddy. You don't have to convince us by posting irrelevant and selective stats. The South Americans certainly don't adore their American counterparts. You have a history of supporting dictators in that part of the world. The whole freakin' world knows about the failed CIA adventures in South America.

Venezuelan economy collapsed in 2015; corruption was norm and political immaturity of Hugo Chavez was the final nail in the coffin. These realities forced the US to cut down its exports from Venezuela by half and Chinese investment was not sufficient to rescue Venezuelan economy from subsequent collapse.

Venezuela is a good case study for those states that underestimate the importance of a sound foreign policy.
La Revolucionne hasa to bes maintanes by es alles means........VIVA LA REVOLUCION AMIGO. :chilli:

Goldman knows full well they aren't going to get any money from Venezuela if Maduro falls. In fact nobody is lining up to buy into Goldman's interest as it is considered toxic. Goldman probably expects Maduro to fall soon and Venezuela to have their US loans forgiven (just like Brazil did). When it is announced Goldman will step up to the plate to announce the bonds will be ripped up and take a business loss tax write off.

Sure. Just like the rest of South America is soon going to find out how China bought Venezuelan gold and ripped them off, right? You just got to love the blatant hypocrisy of these Americans.

The world hated Bush, then Obama came along and were practically bowing down at his feet. Even out of office, Obama is arguably the most popular politician in the world. The world's opinion of the US and its leaders are fluid, and can change on a dime. IMO, Trump is a clown and is rightfully despised, but in 2 years the race for 2020 will begin and the American people will once again judge him. At the rate things are going, it will be almost impossible for him to win a 2nd term, if he even makes it to 2020. It was a miracle he won last year, losing the popular vote by 3 million, and winning many of the battleground states by less than 1%. His approval rating is around 35% right now. A 2nd term is not looking so good.

Regardless of Trump, the US is still by far the most popular place to move to for potential immigrants.

The smartest thing China (and Russia) can do is when Maduro falls is to say say they were "just holding it for safe keeping" and then return it to Venezuela before things have a chance to hit the fan.

LOL is that why the American people chose Trump as their next leader when Obama sided with Hillary? We know exactly how popular Obama was. Obama was a hypocrite and a wolf in sheep's clothing. Hillary did not lose the elections. Obama's unpopularity made her lose it. Obama got disgraced and he knows it. The people of America hated Obama. They disgraced him by electing Trump. All Obama can do now is tour European countries and try to assure allies that everything is okay. Well, it is not okay and even the closest US allies know it.

I think you need a serious reality check on US popularity on the world stage today. Your own allies cannot depend on the US. These statements were made despite Obama's attempts to mend ties with NATO allies. From climate change to NATO ties and the Russia. The writing is on the wall.

As for the next elections. We'll see who wins it, but we don't trust the American people and the last election is a clear proof. We have heard it all before and we know how everyone turned out to be dead wrong. My bet is on a second Trump win. America is a very divided place.

No, the U.S is an evil immoral country that most people in the developing world want to emigrate to for a better life and freedom, even those who claim to despise the U.S. So they hate you but like the goodies(including green card and passport) your country can offer them.:D

Funny enough some of them even demand rights that they never had in their native countries, but who take on no corresponding obligation of loyalty to their host country. Irony or hypocrisy nobody knows. :P

Hillary lost because of her deep unpopularity and her inability to craft an economic message that could inspire the people of the Rust Belt. People simply didn't show up to vote for her. Even then, she still won the popular vote by 3 million. If Obama could of run for a third term, he would have slaughtered Trump. Obama's popularity runs deep throughout the world. All you have to do is go on YouTube and watch the multitude of Town Halls he did around the world. He even was on vacation recently in Italy, where people were practically mobbing him and Michelle.

As for Trump, his deep unpopularity is getting worse by the week, and he's accomplished almost nothing legislative wise. A 2nd term is looking out of reach for him.

As for Max's beloved China, here is a favorability rating of the US vs China from Pew Research last year.

Well there's a couple of issues. Chavez/Maduro came to power with the impression that the rich were taking all the money at the expense of the poor. So he took power and decided to dole out all the extra money to the poor. Which in itself isn't bad but it went straight to his head.

Soon he started nationalizing companies because he thought they were making only certain people rich. Next thing those companies had morons (his friends) replacing the key people who kept those companies profitable. They went down in quality.

When oil prices fell the disaster started. No money to give to the poor. No rich company people to point the finger at. Companies with idiots at the helm.

Now the country is far worse off then any time the so called rich people were taking advantage of people...even when oil prices were not high.
Thanks for elaboration.

I was referring to this: https://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/hist/LeafHandler.ashx?n=PET&s=MTTIMUSVE1&f=M

Shale revolution enabled US to cut down its oil exports from all over the world and Venezuela was a logical target for that due to hostility of Hugo Chevez.

There is no future in Trumpland.
There is no such thing as Trumpland.

US is a state with established rules; not a progeny of any President.

One of my close friends migrated to the US recently and guess what? He managed to settle there.

Don't believe in rubbish that American media sells you regarding Trump.

LOL couldn't we argue the same for Obama's "successes" being undone by orangeman?

China doesn't interfere in the political matters of a nation. They invest money and hope for a good return. They understand the risks associated with monetary investment. Can we say the same for US political and economic interference in other nations?
Which successes you are talking about? ObamaCare? It was failing before Donald Trump took charge of the office: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/may/28/obamacare-failure-not-caused-by-trump/

Don't forget the amount of debt Obama administration contributed to American economy: http://www.businessinsider.com/national-debt-deficit-added-under-president-barack-obama-2017-1

Democrats are mostly good for promoting LGBT filth, outsourcing American jobs and meddling in the affairs of other states. Democrats-patronized media outlets have still not come to terms with the defeat of Democrats in recent elections and are busy in maligning Trump administration. Trump is absolutely correct when he calls them obstructionists who only concentrate on negativity and have not prioritized American domestic interests.

As for China not interfering in political matters of any state? Are you kidding me? Chinese meddling is very subtle and business-like.

It is only a matter of time when they will convert Pakistan into one of their colonies and we will not even notice it.
