US, Pakistan need to improve ties: Blake
APP
ISLAMABAD: US Deputy Secretary of State for South Asia Robert Blake said that there was a need to enhance ties with Pakistan and help the people of Pakistan who were facing political, economic and security problems.

Talking to VOA on Monday, he said that it was important for all of us to move forward and work together.

“We need to help the people and the government of Pakistan in resolving their political, economic and security problems and in fact it is the time to focus on these issues,” he said.

He said that Pakistan’s role in the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan was important and the United States wanted Pakistan on its side in the future strategy as it was a valuable ally.

It is US who needs to come forward and apologize. It is US who has to make an effort to improve the ties. First publicly accusing the Army of other country than telling that the alliance is failing.

Ridiculous!

I am not sure Mullen and Pannetta agree with you sir. They are all set to screw you for the 3rd time in 10 years!

This has become a regular trend now..USA growls at Pakistan and shows fangs..Pakistan shouts back, and shows a stone..
USA says we should talk..Pakistan sends somebody on a trip to USA....and USA sends somebody on a trip to Pakistan...

ISLAMABAD: US ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter has met Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir in Islamabad today at the Foreign Ministry, Geo News reported.

The meeting comes as ties between both the two allies are on a downward spiral following the US accusations of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) being linked with the Haqqani Network US blames for attack on its embassy in Kabul.

Pakistan has dismissed the US accusations and said these would only worsen the relationship between the two countries.

US willing to work constructively on Haqqani network with Pakistan: State Dept

WASHINGTON: State Department spokesperson Mark Toner said that the US government was committed to its relationship with Pakistan and wants to work constructively with Pakistan on the Haqqani Network.
In response to a question about why the Haqqani Network had not yet been designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation (FTO), Toner said that leaders of the Haqqani Network had been targeted and designated as terrorists through executive orders and through the Treasury Department (a form of official sanction against organisations, groups, individuals and countries).
Toner said that the Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense and Admiral Mullen had raised the issue of the Haqqani Network and that the USG wanted Pakistan to take action against them.
Toner declined to respond to a question about whether Pakistan’s support for the Haqqani Network could be considered an act of war.
Regarding the attack on the US Embassy in Kabul earlier in the day, Toner confirmed that one US citizen had been killed while one had been injured, but said he had no information on whether a CIA employee had been killed. He also did not comment on the perpetrators of the attack, saying the matter was under investigation.
