Nov 27: The US has warned India and other key governments across the world about a new potentially embarrassing release of classified documents by the whistle-blowing website WikiLeaks which may harm the American interests and create tension in its ties with its "friends".
"We have reached out to India to warn them about a possible release of documents," State Department Spokesman P J Crowley told PTI. "We do not know precisely what WikiLeaks has or what it plans to do. We have made our position clear. These documents should not be released," Crowley said, ahead of the expected release by the website of millions of sensitive diplomatic cables.
It is not known yet what is contained in these documents about India-related issues. The WikiLeaks has said there would be "seven times" as many secret documents as the 400,000 Iraq war logs it published last month.
On his Twitter account, Crowley said the State Department officials have also contacted leaders in Germany, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Britain, France and Afghanistan. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton too reached out to Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, as the WikiLeaks, the whistle-blower website, is expected to release some three million classified US cables involving some of its key allies including Australia, Britain, Israel, Russia, Turkey and India.
Admiral Mike Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, urged WikiLeaks to stop "dangerous" leaks. "I would hope that those who are responsible for this would, at some point in time, think about the responsibility that they have for lives that they're exposing... and stop leaking this information," Admiral Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told CNN.
"It continues to be extremely dangerous," he said. "We are very mindful of the announcement that WikiLeaks made earlier this week, that there is a release of documents pending at some point in the future."

So they have contacted everyone except Pakistan because its alright if Pakistan gets bashed but definitely not India or Israel or even perhaps the arabs.:disagree: Speaks about the so called strategic relationship that our government so harps on.

That would be interesting if CIA is found involved. What would be Indian reaction, i suppose they still some how find a connection and replace CIA with ISI.

Or actually there is nothing against Pakistan in this set of documents that are planned to be released. Why do you always view everything with suspicion ?

Well frankly nothing much can be done on the diplomatic front except that the MRCA tender will go to European countries, attack and transport chopper deal to the Russkies and US can kiss the Holy Grail of nuclear business worth tens of billions of dollars with us Goodbye !.

Its not that easy as you made it sound. India needs the nuclear deal more. India is still a developing country with a growing economy, do you really think your sarkar will jeopardize that, i have my serious doubts.

Hmmm..thanks for clarification.!

It may seem unlikely -- but the fact of the matter is India doesnt need the US anymore for nuke-power generation.

They do not produce Uranium nor is their technology in Nuke power generation upto date

We have already signed deals for Uranium with Namibia,Mongolia,Kazakhstan ,Uranium ore exploration deals with Malawi and deals with France,Russia and many other countries for the know-how.

Infact French Areva is supposed to have the latest tech on this front.

Also you should note that although the US was the main help in getting us past the NSG,we still havent signed a nuke deal with them although deals have been signed with dozen other countries

US is the largest producers of nuclear-electricity ....

hmm... looks like there are few things US doesn't want india to know!! skeletons are going to tumble out of the closet.. this is going to be interesting..

LET THE GAME BEGIN!

US is the largest producers of nuclear-electricity ....

Maybe.....But Areva has the latest ,safest and the most efficient technology for Nuclear power generation.

Also 70% of French electricity generation is through Nuke power whereas the corresponding percentage of the US is very measly.

UK Gov issues DA notices over WikiLeaks bomb | THINQ.co.uk
The UK Government has issued Defence Advisory Notices to editors of UK news outlets in an attempt to hush up the latest bombshell from whistle-blowing web site WikiLeaks.

DA Notices, the last of which was issued in April 2009 after sensitive defence documents were photographed using a telephoto lens in the hand of Assistant Commissioner Bob Quick as he arrived at No 10 Downing Street for a briefing, are requests not to publish, and therefore not legally enforceable.

Which means there are no 'official' repercussions for ignoring the notices, but they are generally adhered to.

The news came to light in two Tweets from WikiLeaks one of which said, "UK Government has issued a "D-notice" warning to all UK news editors, asking to be briefed on upcoming WikiLeaks stories." the follow up pointed out that the notices were "Type 1" which relates to "Military Operations Plans and Capabilities", and "Type 5" which relates to "United Kingdom Security and Intelligence Special Services."

WikiLeaks says the forthcoming mega-leak is seven times larger than the 400,000-document Iraq War Dossier and would redefine global history.
