Five days before the India-Pakistan Home Secretary dialogue on terror, New Delhi had alerted Islamabad and Kabul to an alleged Lashkar-e-Toiba plot to target its Ambassador Gautam Mukhopadhyaya and the Indian mission in the Afghan capital.

Subsequent intervention by Afghan authorities led to arrest of what sources call three potential suicide bombers and the seizure of a truckload of explosives in the Wardak province on March 23.

On March 22, US intelligence agencies are said to have passed on specific information through security channels to India’s Defence Intelligence Agency in Delhi about an alleged Lashkar plot, that included some officials of the ISI, to use suicide bombers against the targets on Pakistan’s National Day on March 23.

The DIA informed the Indian embassy in Kabul, the Ministry of External Affairs and the Home Ministry. Afghanistan’s intelligence agency, National Directorate of Security, was also sounded out.

It apprehended the truck and the three suspects 45 miles from Kabul.Sources said that the MEA conveyed India’s concerns to Islamabad and the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi. Islamabad was provided with the names and numbers as mentioned in the alert.

The alert included summary of communication intercepts between suspected officials of the ISI, the names of the three Lashkar operatives, the registration number of the Toyota pick-up truck and telephone numbers of the alleged conspirators.

If this kind of specific detailed info about ISI/LET collaboration is known, why do you think the names are not published? Wouldn't it give more credibility to the Indian Express report if they actually named ISI names? It makes me suspicious that it is Indian propaganda when such an obvious compelling detail is not made public. What would be the harm to the intelligence sources in giving out the Pakistani names? Obviously the ISI people know who they, themselves, are from this report. Any "methods and practices" concerns are already blown. Why not expose the actual ISI human beings?

These things are done to increase pressure on india before talks , dirty game.

As we thought US and India working hand in hand to destabilize Pakistan. This is another proof that they are working together. Afghanistan and Iran supporting them.

It seems possible, look at the PM's meeting ver cricket....Its seems highly possible that this was an attempt to hinder any solution between the two countries, maybe to keep relations in the frozen state that they wee in. By not revealing the sources, it allows us to monitor and see where the "footprint" lead and how high up and if other countries are involved...
