Realistically, Afghans were already expecting this from the US , as the end game. Infact common perceptions was that, The US is funding Some groups of Talib’s and Is cooperating with Pakistan. Soldiers accuse The Taliban of only attacking ANA while skipping US vehicle. Distrust was high. ANA soldiers I spoke to, were clear about their intentions, returning to their villages, as soon as gravy train of US funded Afghan govt and ANA collapses. According to them, all Villages/groups are stockpiling weapons for another round of civil war after US withdrawal.

And why are you dragging Pakistan into this?
Taliban are 100% indigenous Afghan Pushtoon people, not Pakistani.

What the status of our fencing efforts along the Afghan border?
