US missile strike hits car in Pakistan, killing 3 - seattlepi.com

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — Pakistani intelligence officials say American missiles have killed three people in an attack on a vehicle in a militant-infested region close to the Afghan border.
The strike Friday took place close to Miranshah in North Waziristan, the site of most of the more than 130 missile attacks since the beginning of last year.
The intelligence officials did not say who was killed. They asked for anonymity because they were not authorized to give out their names to the media.
American officials rarely discuss the CIA-run program, but the missile attacks are considered a major weapon against al-Qaida and the Taliban in the region.
Pakistan formally protests the attacks for domestic political reasons, but is known to have contributed intelligence to some of them.

Are they have permission from Pakistan officials to carry on such operations?

Obviously Yes.. The reason being no country can bomb in other country's territory without a support of local governing body and army. Pakistani Army generals and govt are paid hefty amounts in return of permissions to freely bomb their territories...

why is it so hard for us to believe that our government and military is directly involved in carrying out these air strikes...

I wonder what would China do now as "Attack on Pak is attack on China"..

Pakistan and the USA are still allies, and cooperating in the WoT.

Drone strikes are hardly an attack on the Pakistani state. If that were true, they would already be in a state of war.

And if Pakistan is one day in a state of war with another country, all they need to do is ask for our help.

From what I understand Army High Command sometimes even designates targets for US drones to strike, if this was a strike on a car it's possible Army had ground intelligence on people inside the vehicle and ordered a strike... I could be wrong, too many clouds.
