The relationship between China and the West is rapidly eroding, and that could have serious implications for Hong Kong's status as a global financial hub.
thoughts, peoples?
just list your ideas, proposals and thoughts right here in this thread..

Many analyst claim that HK will lose its financial hub role to Singapore, but I don't think so. The most important factor remains, and that is HK with free capital flows is still a part of China .

HK will remain as China's premier financial hub for equities as Chinese companies still prefer to list in HK. And if you want to access into China, HK is still the superior option.

i fear that the government in Beijing will start economically eroding HK, hoping to replace HK as lead financial hub with another city, maybe even Beijing itself.

the Chinese government looks far into the future with their war planning.
that is one of the reasons we are so fearful of their belt and road initiative.

but ultimately, we here in the west, i believe, should grant the Chinese the benefit of the doubt.
they seriously underestimate our own war time strengths and abilities to look far into the future.
ever notice how sci-fi from Hollywood has gotten more and more violent since the 1980s?
i did.

Nah, they won't be having a free flow of capital anytime soon and so it would be in their interest for HK to remain prosperous and as their financial hub. Why else do you think the US is trying to undermine HK if it can't hurt China's interest?
