USA Ambassador to india spoke the truth in his cable which indians always brush under the carpet.DRDO/HAL is centuries behind usa companies even if MMRCA planes will be made at HAL they'll mess it up both in quality and time.only known SU30 MKI plane which crashed last year was assembled at HAL.So usa is quite right in doubting the HAL/DRDO capabilities.coz they cant even assemble a plane.

USA doubt so much even for our Chinese friends aerospace capabilities too ,any valuable comments from you ????P

btw!!!!!! the Su 30 mki that wuz crashed in 2009 wuz due to foreign substance sucked in its intakes and causing engines failures.

I take serious exception to this American statement and Indian MoD should consider this US behavior before they announce the winner.

No actually its right. HAL, OFB, our public sector shipyards and some other DRDO labs are not that advanced as they should be. Just look at the amount we spend on building up the infrastructure of our defense industries and on RnD. Its not enough. But things are gonna change. HAL has a 4 billion$ modernization plan. I hope it is implemented fast.

Thanks for your comments Genius. I am sure you are talking from years of experience you have had working at Boeing/LM & HAL. Also American Built planes have never ever crashed only those built by HAL do. Those news of F22 crashing in 2004, 2009 & 2010 were either all fake or were definitely assembled by HAL.

And good to see you have removed the Indian Flag. Doesn't suit you anyways.

OT: I think this is old stuff part of a communication not an official stand. And also we have to look this from the context that Americans have a habit of doubting everyone else (sometimes justifiably). HAL will set up a new facility for MMRCA and if anything is lacking/missing in capability it will be certainly taken care of.

Keep in mind this comes from a guy who has educational background in ARTS and Ph.D in public policy.... he wouldn't be able to tell the differece between Flexible manufacturing system and a high production line if a proximity sensor hit him in the head. I believe HAL nasik division that makes the SU30 MKI and previously the MIG 21 series has the biggest CNC complex in Asia. He makes HAL sound like Pep Boys Workshop also remember this guy was in the 9/11 commission nd we all know how credible that was.

yeah , these jobs that you talk about are symbiotic in nature... US MNC's make more money by employing highly skilled Indian employees at lower costs. These employees pay taxes, so i think US gets a hell of a deal there. i am not sure if govt of india or in case pakistan would like to base its defence procurement regime based on jobs offered to its citizens in USA.
