A Pakistani security salesman was viciously beaten and tortured in a hate crime at a home in an upscale neighborhood in Tomball, Houston, on Wednesday.

The Houston chapter of CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, wants local law enforcement and the FBI to investigate the possibility David Nienberg, 42, targeted the salesman because he’s Muslim.

Inside Memorial Hermann’s ICU, Yaqub Bham is recovering from an attack so traumatic his wife says he has trouble sleeping and looking in the mirror.

“One of his ears has been bitten off, and the bone is exposed,” said Bham’s wife who asked not to be identified.

Bham is covered in bruises, has ten broken ribs, a fractured shoulder and is at risk for infection.

“This person bit him inside his tongue three times,” said his wife.

Nienberg is charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. He lives inside the Northpoint Forest subdivision in Tomball. On Wednesday the Harris County Sheriff’s Office says Nienberg’s own son called 911 to report his dad was hitting and biting the home security salesman. Bham apparently had an appointment at the suspect’s home.

Bham told investigators the attack happened after Nienberg asked about the contract then questioned his religion.

“Where are you from? Who are you? He asked him those types of things,” said Bham’s wife.

When deputies arrived at the home they say Nienberg had Bham in a choke hold. They ordered the suspect to let go but say he was shouting profanities and babbling about the military. Deputy Thomas Gilliland says Nienberg is an Army veteran but was never deployed to a combat zone.

Gilliland says after the suspect refused to obey orders on several occasions deputies were forced to use a Taser on him twice so they could take him into custody.

Nothing in the Sheriff’s Office report indicates Nienberg attacked the victim because he’s Muslim, but the victim’s family says what happened was a hate crime and they want it investigated as one.

“When we say it was a hate crime it’s because look at the way he literally abused Yaqub. What kind of rage did he have?” said his wife.
“He’s so gentle. He’s so hard working, honest. He doesn’t hurt anyone. Why would anyone want to hurt him?” said his wife.

When Bham is released from the hospital, he faces months of medical bills, and perhaps even harder to overcome, the feeling he’s no longer safe living in Houston.

simply leave the country in which you are not welcome........

If you cant be serious then please go spread your ''I hate Pakistan and her people'' thoughts some where else.

1) I am happy his wife really loves him, look how she describe him :)

2) This is nothing new we all know that ''land of freedom'' is more likely to be called ''land of doom''

3) I hope justice will be done and my brother would atleast be happy that crime that has been commited against him and his family would be paid back.

Edit:misspelling

Though the attack by one individual does not portray the US as a whole. This nut's own son called the police so there we see the difference. US has a lot of good things and one bad act by a nut cannot be blamed on the US as a whole.

yes i would agree on that.
we should avoid generalizing.
i wouldnt like if somebody says all muslims are terrotists...but we all know there are people who say.that.and beleive that..
likewise its unfair to say all americans are racist.but we know there are americans who are racists.
my very close family lives in USA and never had any problem in the last 20 years.

I was being sarcastic on the 2nd one actually but %30 of the US citizens think that muslims should wear chips so US can watch what they are doing and more than % 40 believe Muslims should wear something special for identifying them. This was done after 9/11 attacks but I do not thing numbers are much different now.

I was just being sarcastic on something quite disgusting because I feel the need to express my frustration on discrimination against minorties.

Physically attacked by one in this case but racism is much more wide spread than admitted. My very close relative was the first victim of hate (shot to death) after 9/11

Here is another example, may seem very harmless, but it is representative of wide spread racism and hate towards other non Caucasian Americans

So what happened to this case in the end? Does anyone know?

What the article means a Pakistani salesman? I am sure he is as american as anybody else so why bring Pakistan into it just because he maybe was once a Pakistani. An American beating another american, sounds like a domestic violence what is all the fuss about?
