Update: Deadlock Deepens Over US Base Relocation in Japan

That's the point isn't it, Japan is a very capable power plus no country is gonna invade Japan or Okinawa. Guam is close by and South Korea has US military presence. I can understand the people living on that island who wants US military out, especially of the problems caused by them and the island is used to store Agent Orange.

By the way where is this Henoko?

Henoko is located in the eastern coast of the central part of Okinawa Island:

The base to be constructed will have to be reclaimed from the oceans as there is , literally, not enough space to build the base in Henoko district, plus the people in Henoko is against it. That is too much of a load on their town , to accommodate close to 30,000 soldiers.

Anyways, here is where Henoko base is planned to be built:

As you can see, the plan is to do land reclamation.

lol, really? beg for food? We are afterall talking about the US Navy, right? I don't think you have to worry about logistics when it comes to the US Navy. They're a league of their own.

With the actual economic situation of US, you think they can afford to feed all these soldiers abroad regrardless of the logisticall support?

@Nihonjin1051 - Why do you guys still have US bases in Japan ? :what:

Its been decades since WW2 ended ! :undecided:

I agree, slowly changing my views in regards to US military presence in the country. I think it is just best if our American allies voluntarily move out, besides they can always transfer to Guam or the Northern Mariana Islands (which by the way used to be a Japanese overseas territory, the Americans have taken it from us after the war).

Even South Korea complained about feeding US soldiers and USA expects South Korean tax payers to do their part.

I can understand US military being in Korea since Korea still is in a state of war. But in Japan? I don't think we have to worry about invasion from any of our neighbors, lol. It was usually Japan doing the invading in times past. lol.

Joking aside, i think we have to consider the "other" option.

it'll be the U.S who rebuilds Seoul afters it's leveled to ground by artillery, missiles, god forbid an atom bomb.

small price to pay to feed and shelter some yanks.

Agreed! So long as Pyongyang poses a threat, then the likelihood of American withdrawal is close to nill.

I'm glad that as Chinese, we have preserve some dignity for ourself and our grand childrens to come. Feeding foreign army free of charge within our soil and with our tax payer sweat and blood is something that a self respect nation shouldn't do.

if we can't feed our soldiers, the Chinese must be starving to death. After all, you've got a way smaller economy and what is it? 5 times the population?
