UN Agency Accuses Houthis of Stealing Food Aid

The UN's food agency has accused the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen of stealing "from the mouths of hungry people" and diverting food deliveries.

Monday's strongly worded statement came after the World Food Program said it collected evidence showing the militias diverted shipments of food sent to help alleviate the country's humanitarian crisis, reported The Associated Press.

The World Food Program said it obtained photographic evidence showing Houthi trucks seizing food and militants manipulating lists of aid recipients.

The WFP is helping 12 million hungry people in Yemen and wants an "overhaul of the relief system," including biometric registration.

The Houthis, however, resist such measures, it revealed.

David Beasley, executive director of the UN's food program, demanded: "This criminal behavior must stop immediately."

Only this time, there are proofs coming from the UN and not only the Saudi coalition who has been saying the truth all these years, it is a good progress in the right direction to end this conflict..for the sake of Yemeni people..

Realy..Amazing That Yemen was self sufficient, albeit a poor country, under the Houthis and before the Houthis..Starvation started with the invasion of Yemen by the Sauds and its coalition. The coalition took cue from Egyptians in their past war in Yemen and bombed everything that moves from chicken, goats, cattle to banana trucks...No body stole anything because they were nothing to steal to began with...Under the the torched earth policies of the Sauds..

This is old news---the famine was artificially created by the houthis---. Their militias controlled the food supply to the local / poor---just like the somali warlords did in somalia---.

Iran has nothing to do with the Houthis..It is the Houthis that are fighting the Sauds and their coalition, not Iran! Iran since the Khatami time, has never been involved in destroying Muslims and Muslim countries like the Sauds did and are still at it..Just have a look at your mother country and see the devastation that they manage to do by financing some radical fringe of Pakistan..
