Russia licensed the Searcher technology from Israel for manufacture by the Ural Works of Civil Aviation with the name Forpost. Gressel said it was the most advanced drone Russia had in current service, costing up to $6m (£3.8m) each.

Ukraine is moving towards EU and NATO membership and Israeli defense industry is like helping Russian Federation against Ukraine which even goes against the interest of United States and all the NATO member countries from Denmark, Norway and Baltics etc.

Well to be honest, israel helped russia by selling its high tech drone to russia back then relations between russia and the U.S/west was quite good. The deal was done with U.S blessings. Its even more surprising to see russia doesnt have these kind of drone tech and has to rely on israel. Well unfortunately for them israel has now stopped all cooperation/tech transfer with russia. This is one of the only military field(drone tech) i think china is way ahead of russia.

In 2010 Russia concluded a deal to purchase 15 of them from IAI, and to set up a joint venture to produce drone technology and in Jan 2011 Israelis have delivered those drones but even that time relations between United States and Russia were not good because of ICBM tests by Russia and Missile Shield in Europe.

Israel has not sold drones to Ukraine when it needed them the most and termed it as pressure from Russia.


Washington believes that Russia tested a “suspicious” missile in 2008 and upgraded version of Topol M ,RS-24 Yars was introduced into Service in July 2010.

The reason behind the missile shield in Europe because mainly because of the Russian ICBM"s and Russians even now do have the largest interceptors and launchers.
