I would highly suggest f-18. Indian should go for a plane that is proven instead of one that promise a lot of TOT. Why get TOT if India is not doing squat with it. Save the TOT money for something else.

I personally favour the F18. it has the only proven AESA. It'll be the best deterrence we have until the PAK FAs start coming in. And most importantly it's the best among all the planes in the A2G role.

But there is strings attached. Check the PAF, they suffered coz of the denial of spare parts of F-16 in 90s

One solid stance on Iran or any other issue, US will start playing the carrot and stick. We have seen this several time with several countries. Buying American planes in good numbers means u r a US ally. They hold the strings. Contrary to popular belief, I still think it MMRCA wont go to USA. Our army knows it most.

maybe bro.. but remember recently about the israel aesa block. i still favor mig 35. russians give us everything.
also, this deal was issued in 2004 (read it in wiki). so by the next 2-3 yrs we can order another one & then get something entirely different from a russian platform

no america is still trying to controll the weapons it supplies..like no other country does..look at euma,cismoa,very limited TOT etc.now they will tell all time support and all..but when the use really comes(in a war situation) they will cut off the support.india needs to act like american puppet to get continues support..which we don't like..we have independent foreign policy.

For Gods sake no US planes plz. I think we have ordered their heavy lifters and that should be it. The recent saga involving Italian satellite should be indicative of the unchanged attitude of US towards other countries.
