He Is undoubtedly right. How would Turkey for example feel if Italy said your land belong to us? Talking about some empire that fell hundreds of years ago has no basis. There were 3 Muslim empires at the same time, The Ottoman Empire, the Safavid Empire and the Mogul empire.. their sum formed the Muslim Empire and the borders were fluid because of internal conflicts..the Safavid (Safawi) empire lasted only for 2 centuries and contracted to what is know today as Iran or IRI.. so can't claim those islands, since Turkey too can claim them.. but geographically they are part of what is know as Arabia, and that part of it known as the UAE today..Iran has many islands nearby but these UAE ones are also strategic in the context of the Persian gulf and the strait of Hormuz..hence the clinging on to death by Iran..
