so here we have the US basically offering everything they possibly can to NK : photo-ops, summits, economic support.

and what do the North Koreans do? move their nuclear weapons and ICBM programs partially underground, while stone walling all diplomatic efforts.

the one thing the North Koreans can't do however, is subvert the historical records about this time period.
in any future confrontation, it's going to be very easy to point out how the North Koreans acted, and that'll in turn determine how much support any effort to prune North Korean military might will get, whether that be 5, 50 or more years from now.

at the moment it seems like the west is going to let North Korea become a nuclear weapons state, and while i don't oppose that in principle, i do want to caution the North Koreans against becoming bad neighbors. That could prove untolerable to more than just your neighbors, given how your ICBM range ambitions include all of Europe and the US.

Wow in exchange for surrendering their sovereignty and national security, they could have played cheap manservants for fat Americans who want to be treated like kings but are finding it increasingly difficult to afford vacations with other nations unfortunately developing past their paycheck or just come to take photos of some broken window or dead fish for their slander "news" story about all these "shocking" findings and opened up the doors for all kind of other of Americas usual dirty schemes.

Of course no economic development for North Korea, we dont want it to be selfsufficient and have nice things for themselves.
