RAWALPINDI: Sasha, a golden tigress at the Ayub National Park in Rawalpindi, gave birth to two healthy cubs at the park’s Jungle World nine weeks ago, attracting crowds to see the new family.

The male cub was named Rawal while the name of the female cub has been left for the public to decide. The park authorities have announced a prize for the person whose name gets approved for the female cub.

The birth of these cubs has become a major attraction for the people of Rawalpindi, as zoos in Pakistan are repeatedly accused of having lesser animals and not serving as a good attraction to the public especially children.

The Bahawalpur zoo, which is famous for its breeding of lions where 128 cubs were born between 1982 and 2010, was also recently accused of under-feeding the big cats.
