Turkish PM due on Nov 13
Trade, connectivity to dominate talks

Talks between Bangladesh and Turkey will revolve around air connectivity and increase in bilateral trade and investment during the two-day official visit of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoðan to Dhaka on November 13-14.

This will be the country's second high level visit since Turkish President Abdullah Gül's visit last February.

Official sources said Dhaka is looking forward to the visit, as there are prospects of investment from Turkey looming over the horizon and both the countries are eager to enhance their ties of cooperation.

In the connectivity arena, Turkish Airlines would launch its Istanbul-Karachi-Dhaka flight in December and plans to start a direct flight between Istanbul and Dhaka in the near future, foreign ministry officials said.

Earlier during his visit, President Abdullah Gül had promised to establish air connectivity between Bangladesh and Turkey to increase trade and commerce between the two countries.

The two countries will also sign an agreement on cooperation in the health sector and an agreement on exchange of land for their embassies in Ankara and Dhaka during Erdoðan's visit, official sources said.

In addition to holding talks with his counterpart, Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister Erdogan is expected to meet President Zillur Rahman, Foreign Minister Dipu Moni, Finance Minister Abdul Muhith and Khaleda Zia, leader of the opposition.

Ministry sources said Bangladesh will prioritise Turkish investment in the agro-food processing industry to ensure food security for the people of Bangladesh.

Bangladesh will also remind Erdoðan of his president's promise to increase bilateral trade volume to one billion US dollar and will discuss ways to increase Bangladesh's exports to Turkey.

Both the countries have been enjoying excellent bilateral relations since they established diplomatic relations in 1974 and Turkey opened its Embassy in Dhaka in 1976 and Bangladesh opened its embassy in Ankara in 1981.

long live turkey-Expakistan! :taz:

Long live the trolls!
You do understand that 1971 chapter is long closed and Pakistanis and Bangladeshis have come to live as seprate nations but with the same strong bonds which will exist forever!

long live turkey-Expakistan! :taz:

Long Live Turkey-Pakistan-Bangladesh friendship. By the way, do you people remember that a Bangali PM of Pakistan, Hossain Shahid Suhrawardy thought of the need to unite the then Pakistan with Iran and Turkey against an external threat to Pakistan. So, this was how the Central Treaty Organization or CENTO was formed with the participation of these three countries sometime in 1958.

I wish it could be repeated and re-organized in a changed regional geopolitical background. Now, Pakistan is divided into two, and the central asia has witnessed the birth of five muslim countries there.
