Turkish forces at Iraq border. Targets: Musul and Kerkuk as starters...

Turkish National Security Council decision - if the Northern Iraq goes to referendum despite all the warnings Turkey will defend her rights emanating from bilateral and international agreements concerning the guarantee to preserve the unitarian set-up of Iraq.

Translation: in the case of referendum, military intervention from the Turkish side is inevitable for the Northern Iraq is the home of Kurds, Turkmens and Arabs. And, it can't be allowed to be the breeding ground and launching pads for terrorists to fight proxy wars against Turkey.

BRAVO...Sick Man to IRON MAN!!

According to my understanding, Turkey did have strong objections over losing Mosul to the Allies. British gov’t however turned down the Turkish objections including the one for the plebiscite in Mosul and insisted that Mosul was part of Iraq which was her domain. The issue ended up in the League of Nations, which endorsed the British view and the region of the Vilayet of Mosul became part of Iraq.

The issue remained dormant until Saddam Hussein lost control of Iraq to the Kurds following defeat in the Gulf war. It was then the Mosul issue resurfaced in the Turkish press. My info comes from the literature published by the British who were the victors and it may only reflect the British point of view. Nevertheless the fact remains that since 1919, almost 100 years, Mosul and the surrounding Kurdish areas have not been part of the Turkish State.
In that case, I guess it Will be fair for Britain to take part in a deal between Turkey and the Iraqi government/Kurds then, a situation where the deal can be enforced .
So if I'm not mistaken Mosul is only part of Iraq today because of us? If yes, then I guess Iraq losing Mosul shouldn't be a big deal then, since it shouldn't have been part of Iraq in the first place.

@HAKIKAT
You are either a traitor or an agent.
You know that Iraqi government will fight you if you enter their territory. Regardless of military might of Turkey and Iraq, Which shows that Turkey has a sensible advantage, it will wage a war between these countries. Don't you think that it's enough of dreams that weakened Syria, Iraq and Turkey?
FYI Iraq is full of natural resources and she has an organized strong force called PMU, and if you wage war on them, they are gonna resist. Remember and learn from Iran-Saddam war, all of the western/eastern experts were sure that Iran would lose the war to savage Ba'athis and at least Iraq will annex Khuzestan province which has a similarity to your claims about Mosul. This war will be the worst incident in our neighborhood after ISIS phenomenon, weakens all regional powers and only strengthens Israel's ally, Barzani.

I wonder even after that American made coup, still you are high on something, ohhhhh Mosul is mine. Who are you man???

This is not going to benefit our Turkish brothers, will endanger the safety of Turkish economy and as i said it will weaken both Iraq and Turkey.

Hope for peace and prosperity, and drop this British dream. Islam has no boundary, brotherhood is better than enmity

And where is the government of Iraq in all this? They have also warned the Kurds as did Iraq's Shia leaders..So this referendum might provoke n attack on the Kurds from both North and South, but they are still insisting on the referendum.. maybe they are encouraged by some outside forces..

I hear that people are questioning American presence in Iraq and their so called fight against terrorism but well, not to expect much since a lot of foreign factor's are involved.

We have seen this game before: This is a defense of Turkey

İbrahim Karagül

30 September 2017
Those who present to us the development in northern Iraq as a Barzani issue alone are lying. Those who present it as a Turk-Kurd issue are lying. Those who are hiding the gravity of the situation, who say, “Why are you exaggerating it so much,” who say, “Barzani and the PKK/PYD are not one and the same,” are lying. Those who say, “Don’t let the Sunni resistance weaken” in northern Iraq against Iran’s expansion are lying.

Those who say, in reference to the referendum, “It does not present any threat to Turkey,” are carrying out a new public perception operation with lies, similar to the way they tricked our people in Kobani. Just as they distracted the public while a terror corridor was being formed in northern Syria, and Turkey was being surrounded, they are again trying to distract the public through lies, confuse the political mind, break the national reflex and weaken the state’s ground.

All of these are openly and clearly managed by the bosses of the multinational attack that took place on July 15, 2016, to prepare for a new intervention wave.

Those telling us to ‘be quiet’ are setting up a major game

While it has become clear that the new multinational intervention will be coming from the south, northern Iraq and northern Syria, while “new Sevres” plans are going around from table to table, “country downsizing” alliances can longer be kept a secret, a common map is being drawn through Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) President Masoud Barzani and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), while a “foreign garrison” is being formed at the center of our region for the first time since Israel, foreign soldiers are settling in at the zero point of our border, while it is known that the next step after this will be the “Turkey front,” while a major partition and pillaging is taking place in our region, those who tell us to “be quiet,” are planning a very big game.

Inheritors of that future will not buy these plans

We are the inheritors of a political tradition with a geography perception much beyond ethnic issues. We come from a political tradition that knows how World War I, the Gaza wars, the Suez War, Kut al-Amara, how Jerusalem fell, how the “British Middle East” projects were applied, the kind of maps on the tables and how skillfully they were drawn, who betrayed and how.

We have no lack of experience, no lack of knowledge, no lack of horizon, no ignorance in reading the region and the world.

The traumas of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century are still in our memories. We have the understanding to grasp how the game was set up, how the “American Middle East” plans were made, who were mobilized for this aim, that elements such as Daesh and the PKK were released on the ground as the herds of invasion leaders and what may follow these exhaustion wars.

We are going to grow or shrink

If we don’t do something today, immediately, now, despite all the mental operations, betrayals and obstacles, we need to understand that we will miss out on a history, that it will never come again, that they are going to want to have Turkey debated in the near future the way we debated Iraq.

This is the kind of mindset, identity, thought with which political history has been made since the Seljuks. The Ottomans spent centuries on this thought and insight. This is the reflex underlying the Anatolian resistance, the Republic of Turkey. Now, after the Anatolian resistance, history is this time at the verge of a new rise or destruction. Turkey will either grow or shrink.

Their geography reading is a guide for us

We are facing a similar choice, a similar decision today. We existed in this region’s millennium-old history because we always made these critical decisions at the right time. If we want to continue in the same way, we need to continue straight forward, toward the flow of history and make decisions even if it be painful. Therefore, we cannot perceive such a great matter based solely on Barzani, his plans and the emotional plans of certain circles in Turkey.

On the contrary, we need to look well at the plots of center countries involved in the region, the 21st-century plans targeting the entire region, the plans of those who want to stop and further shrink Turkey and confine it into Anatolia again. Taking our steps in this way, making our decisions in this way is a historical responsibility.

The political stance and perspective of great leaders, Alparslan, Kılıçarslan, Mehmet the Conqueror at historical breaking points, their reading of the geography and the future could be a guide for us.

What is Erdoğan telling Turkey and the world?

Yes, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is speaking of this climate, this depth: He explains how the game played through northern Iraq threatens and can threaten Turkey. He says that the matter is not Barzani alone, that Turkey is under siege through Iraq and Syria, that an invasion wave is threatening every country including Turkey. He says, “We are going to spoil this game, we must spoil it.”

Based on the Seljuk-Ottoman-Turkish Republic political tradition, based on that deep political mind, he is trying to say something to Turkey and the world. He is giving signs based on the political mind and strong decisions made big turns in history.

He is showing that the Kurdish issue, the scenario presented as Barzani’s dream is actually huge, that it is a regional design that includes Turkey, that new maps are laid on the table after World War I, that he understands, senses that it has come to the stage of “stopping Turkey.”

Erdoğan speaks, someone immediately starts the operation

As soon as Erdoğan speaks, someone immediately activates the influence groups inside Turkey. A great operation is being launched to weaken this discourse, to hide the threat, to confuse the minds of our people and blind them.

Everyone is saying something different. It is as though they are all competing to negate Erdoğan’s words. Stupidity is being inculcated under the name of level-headedness. They are taking with wise words, the “amazing suggestions” given to them in the name of showing Turkey the right way.

They are ‘tasked’ in politics, media and business world

Some are thinking about their personal interests, while others are thinking about the interests of Europe and their bosses beyond the Atlantic. Some are in the game with ethnic reflexes, ethnic reflexes guised under “Islamist” and ”conservative” identities.

The “tasked” groups in politics, media, the business world, nongovernmental organizations, within the state and civil services, are trying to negate Turkey’s national reflex, its historical turn in complete coordination and harmony.

The internal invaders are joining with the threat from the south and are trying to continue the multinational scenario carried out through Barzani and the PKK-affiliated Syrian Democratic Union Party (PYD) and ensure the continuity of the chain of interventions.

We have seen this game, we have seen the next step

We have seen this game before. We have seen the danger. We have seen the next step. We have seen the methods of those trying to blind us. Hence, this is a defense of Turkey. It is the effort to build a national awareness. It is the effort to draw attention to the “internal invasion” and “internal threats.”

It is a warning against the ethnic nationalism presented in the Islamic camouflage from turning into a weapon for imperial plans, a warning against multinational invasion plans. This is why we are discussing Turkey, not northern Iraq, not Iraq’s integrity alone. We are looking at the next step and determining a stance accordingly.

Nobody can keep us out of this debate.

Nobody can turn us from this path.

Wrong lesson.

The Turks are targetting those Kurds from Iraq, across a national boundary, who had most effectively fought ISIS, giving the Iraqi forces stiffening where required. The Turks are fearful that a referendum in Iraqi territory held by Kurds giving a positive reference to the independence question will serve as a nodal point for the gathering together of Kurds in Turkey as well, not to mention Iran.

It's not about terrorists, it's about preventing the Kurds from getting together.
Sorry Joe. But these the exact Kurds that blow up busses in Istanbul.

I had no idea. No, that's not correct; I suppose I should have joined the dots, but I didn't.

This is an unpleasant discovery.
No problem. Unfortunately the Kurds are spread across 4 countries and they want land from all to create Kurdistan. The Americans have trained and armed them against Isis and now they have turned on turkey a NATO member. America also supplies arms to Isis. Remember the oops airdrops. It's a complex equation
