Turkey, Iran, and Qatar boycotted OIC meeting

Turkey opted out in support of Pakistan.
Iran has its own problems with Gulf countries as we already know.
Qatar started having problems with Saudi Arabia and UAE very recently, so they opted out as well.

How useless is this OIC, without Pakistan, Turkey and Iran; probably the 3 most powerful Islamic countries. And without Qatar, who have such a large international image.

Pakistan Peoples’ Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto on Friday termed the decision of boycotting the meeting of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) as unfortunate.

“Important international forums must be engaged at this critical time to put Pakistan’s point of views across and expose India’s belligerence & naked aggression,” Bilawal said after Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s announcement that Pakistan would not attend the meeting of OIC’s Council of Foreign Ministers being held in Abu Dhabi.

Speaking in Joint Sitting of the Parliament, the minister said the lower level Pakistani delegation will attend the OIC meeting as we have to move over 19 resolutions in OIC meeting, out of which many resolutions were pertaining to Indian brutalities in Indian occupied Kashmir and human right violations there.

Pakistan will also oppose giving observer status to India.

Qureshi said India was neither a member of OIC nor observer, yet was invited that too without consulting Pakistan.

Brother countries Turkey and Iran also did not know about the invitation to India to attend OIC session as guest of honour.

He said he had written a letter to Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of United Arab Emirates (UAE) urging him to review his decision of invitation to India to attend OIC session or postpone the meeting.

In response, Sheikh Abdullah expressed his inability to withdraw the invitation as India was invited before Pulwama incident.

Former president Asif Zardari too asked the government to reconsider the decision of not attending the session.

I do not know whether Iran is a brother country, but the article does imply that they did not know of India's invitation to be OIC's guest of honour.

But I am still trying to find if Qatar boycotted OIC meeting though.

It is fact , UAE invited India without consulting OIC committee members.

Pakistan govt need to review its foreign policy, what went wrong. There was time when Pakistan used to provide the list who will and who will not attend OIC conference. Remember Yayah Khan who kicked out Indian from OIC conference in 1969.

Iran and Qatar have their own problems with UAE, not related to Pakistan-India tensions.

Turkey supported Pakistan.

Before I burst people's bubble about Turkey,Iran, and Qatar boycotting OIC meetings due to Pakistan is kinda farce, first off the OIC had become a Gulf Arab or Pan Arab club which for good reason is ticking many non Arab Muslim states off even the powerful ones (Iran,Pakistan,Turkey, and Qatar) each of these countries want to lead the Muslim World in some capacity the OIC had basically fragmented into the GCC block(KSA,Oman most Arab Countries and Egypt), Turkish block(Turkey,Azerbaijan, Turkic states) Iranian block(sorta Qatar, Iraq,Lebanon,Syria tho Syria has been suspended since 2011,), Indonesia being the largest populated Muslim state seems to be taking the neutral stance betting on its growing economy first then tackling the geo-political lens anyways Pakistan should try to become part of the Turkish led and Iranian led blocks to balance out the Gulf Arabs also for non-Muslim countries guest for tit for tat should invite the PRC
