Actually I think the US could really learn something from China on how to ban things. A straight out ban on such a popular app really isn't a smart move... the Chinese government, which has a lot of expertise in banning stuff, usually handles things like this in a much subtler way and would never take such a blunt measure.

It's America's first time so I guess it appears clumsy, now the whole world can see America is being put on defensive mode, start banning things it can't compete with, which frankly used to be China's strong forte

Beijing doesn't want to do that because many American companies create value when they are in China. They are not easily replaceable. If any company can be targeted and replaced, I think the automotive sector is one of them.
