Top most Taliban commander killed in US drone strike, huge blow to Taliban

You have had 17 years to seal the afghan border

What have you been doing?

The Taliban are fighting in their homeland!
And are now invited to peace talks
Are you a afghani ? If not , let their elected government decide their future. None of pakistans business.

Resurgence in attacks from both sides.
Taliban hitting US soldiers directly which they stopped for sometime while US is hitting Taliban top leadership. What meaning does this portray?
Is it mean that negotiations which were being carried out by US & Taliban directly have failed?
Imo, A last push by both sides & perhaps each side want to show its upper hand in negotiations.

Your opinions are highly invited.

These guys are replaceable, because that is the nature of this insurgency. If the taliban was so easy to strike a huge blow to, it would have died at the death of mullah omar.

Still, good job getting rid of the guy, I guess. Still won't change the fact that the war is going on, but good job regardless.

I really hope saner minds prevail soon, and find a proper political solution here. Peace is the only option, and a political settlement is the only way to guarantee it.

The guy will probably be replaced within a week.

What impact it would have on them?
This assassinated Taliban mullah obviously managed critical intelligence and duties for the Taliban movement. Helmand is very important to the Taliban. Losing a leader of that level in the organization is a hit to the Talibans operational capabilities, especially in those specific areas/provinces affected.
