Top Indian businessmen keen on Bangladesh SEZ

God help those poor people, and forbid that it never happens in Bangladesh.

If you ever go to Detroit then you will know what pollution means. When i was driving through the Industrial areas (mainly century old chemical industries) i first thought those are fogs, but did not take much time to realize that those are basically smogs from all the industries around.

One way I was thinking of pollution the next moment thrilled by watching the power house of American muscle.

But 99% of the area of United States are clean like heaven yet they kept the door open for further industrialization.

If we can enforce existing laws and encourage the industry to use latest technology I think the air and water pollution can be contained. And for that we need Special Economic zone type concept instead of seggregating industries here and there. Chhatak is a good place for this kind endeavour as it is far away from any major cities and densely populated area.

As I said, choice is yours.

Leading economic powerhouse or a panhandler case! (applicable for all countries which are wanting to make a mark!)

It is possible to be successful in industry and be good to the environment for the most part.

My point is that there is very little effort in Bangladesh to protect the natural environment at the moment. If industrialization does take place, things will get worse for the environment and human health.

Another thing is Bangladesh's lack of a proper regional policy. Dhaka being the center of the country is making everything very congested. Decentralization is a must.

There are many new environmentally-friendly technologies out there. All Bangladesh needs is to implement proper laws, proper use of land, a proper regional policy and proper use of technology. It might be beneficial that Bangladesh isn't going through any form of industrialization right now, but in the future to come.
