Top Chinese officials ordered attack on Google:Wikileaks

Buddy I have no idea why you keep tap-dancing around this particular issue.

Be like your hero McCain, and speak plainly. What exactly are you asking, and what specific answer from me are you fishing for? Use bullet points if you must.
No need to repeat post 20 back on page 2. This is a publicly accessible forum. One question posed to one is a question posed for all. Anyone can read and answer to contribute to the discussion. Why are you so afraid of taking on post 20? Your pal is obviously afraid of it.

I have answered that post directly already.

You simply chose to reject my answer as "tap-dancing". It seems you are fishing for a specific answer.

This is clearly not a debate if you are only looking for an answer that supports your own point of view.

Zai jian. :azn:

Google's leadership has the right to change their minds. But you are still avoiding the real issue that form the basis of the Chinese government's prosecution of Google.

You are making a business issue into a political one. The Chinese government does discriminate against Google, but you'll see this discrimination against all foreign national companies, from 3 G telecom companies to green energy technology companies.

They are there so that China's indigenous companies get a chance to develop without foreign companies monopolizing the Chinese market. Google was pissed off because they couldn't build a monopoly in China not because after 7-8 years in China, they realize all of the sudden censorship is wrong.

This is what you're talking about right?

Still skirting the real issue, eh?

As the other gentleman brought on...

BBC News - China defends internet censorship

Now...Do you think that calling Bill Clinton a 'rapist' or GW Bush a 'murderer' or General David Petraeus 'Betray US' qualify as -- subverting state power, undermining national unity [or] infringing upon national honour and interests ? China is fully within rights to call it so. But it is a matter of curiosity that why is there such a difference in views. Why are Americans willing to tolerate such insults to their country's leaders and institutions but not the Chinese communist party leadership? Does Canada, which I assume your residence location, have such laws equivalent to China and are they enforced by the Canadian government? Criticizing Google and praising Baidu is a convenient distraction.

No one is skirting you but I'm not sure what you are doing here other than stating a fact.
Americans think insults to their country's leaders and institutions are not a subversion of state power, undermining national unity [or] infringing upon national honour and interests, China does.

Does it say say something about the what values each government holds dear? of course. Should America expect China to adopt its values over its own? Nope.

Noooo...You have not. You skirted the issue by bringing on generalized comment about national unity and such. In times of national crisis, any citizenry would do the same thing. China is not unique in this regard. But you are excused from this difficult issue.

Spare me another lame attempt at diversion. Google does not encourage the Chinese people to seek out unfavorable information about the Chinese government leadership. Google provide access to those information. If Baidu chose censorship about Timbuktu at that government's request, even if there are no punishment possible, would you still support such a collaboration?

@Cardsharp, there is no point. On this topic he seems to dismiss all the answers he doesn't like, as "diversions" or "tap-dancing".

You have...And I did more than stating facts.

Does it say say something about the what values each government holds dear? of course. Should America expect China to adopt its values over its own? Nope.
So you are saying that all morals and behaviors based upon those values are equal under the sun? Simple question that may be a commie can understand -- Do you believe in the right and freedom of any citizenry to form political associations other than the preeminent one?

I did an experiment on google.hk.

i googled some random leaders, in english AND chinese. Including Li Changchun, the person indicted in this article.

no bad results were found on the first five pages, and i didn't bother looking further as my time is limited.

also gambit, if you want to see how much censorship the US has, vs. how much China has, you can click on the link to this thread here, if you dare to challenge your beliefs with facts.

how many US papers dare report what the mayor of new york actually does?! or what the NYPD actually does?! what about BP killing 14 americans and getting away with no jail sentences and no one sacked? the US media will never report controversial government cases that actually threaten the government.
