Visual Defense Inc (VDI), the Canadian firm, to whom the Cabinet Economic Affairs Committee decided in principle to award contract for enhancing the security of Shahjalal International Airport (SIA), will charge US$ 35 (approx, Tk 2730) from each outgoing passenger.

- The VDI will be appointed without any tender as the government received its offer on unsolicited basis.
- The VDI will need to invest about US$ 40 million (about Tk 280 crore) to implement the project under the build-maintain-transfer (BMT) system.
- Visual Defense Incorporation (VDI), a Canadian company, has been entrusted with the task of security checking at Hazrat Shahjalal international Airport for a fee of USD 35 per outgoing passenger.
- According to CAAB statistics VDI would be able to collect Tk 934.31 a year for 25 years. So VDI will collect total of Tk 23357.80 crore by that account.
- 23357 crore taka return for 280 crore investment, that is 83 times more return than what would be invested.
