HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that the Sindh Rangers director-general in a recent meeting with him had brought proposal for the introduction of biometric system and installation of CCTV cameras at polling stations in the NA-246 Karachi bypoll.

Subsequently, the DG might have made an indirect request to the Election Commission of Pakistan on his proposals, he said.

The chief minister was speaking to journalists at ceremony held here on Wednesday for the inauguration of a foreign-funded humanitarian response facility in Jamshoro.

He said that the DG didn’t presented the proposals on his own. Rather, he said, the Rangers chief made the suggestions during the meeting and then he might have made an indirect request to ECP to see if the arrangements could be made.

The chief minister was asked if it was in the mandate of the Rangers to make such proposals.

Mr Shah said that he had told the DG that it must be kept in mind that the time in the bypoll was short and if such arrangements, which were difficult to ensure, were made for one constituency, how they would be made for all polling booths in the general elections.

He said that political parties had demanded deployment of the army but the ECP held that Rangers would supervise security during the bypoll.

“Nobody consulted us in this regard,” he said. He said that after Rangers were tasked with security, the DG approached him with the two proposals.

Why bragging about time? We all know that these dumb fcks won't allow biometric and cctv systems in any sorts of elections. If mobile sims can get biometric verification all over the country then why not elections can be done under biometric system?

Sure it's just so simple , a few thousand rupees ?lolzz

hmmmm if its their personal thingy or they directly make money out of it .. i can bet they would do it in hours.. our Politicians just are so currepted they just cant do good work and make halal money.

There is another side if the story , which is MQM wins 246 by any margin , which they are expected ?
Then they can launch a case on PPP for pre poll rigging to steel their votes & also can demand the same in interior sindh , so PPP sindh govt doesn't want to be any part of it ?
