That's because the PM is using taxpayer money. We have every right to ask where our money is being spent. I'm not saying whether or not Nawaz starting in a 5* is right or wrong but the entire trip should be audited and made public.

In the case of CM KP, the same should be done. However as for Imran Khan, he doesn't hold a public office. Where he spends his private money is none of our business. Even then, a private plane funded by a party member and foreign trip funded by us must be dealt with differently.

When there is so much poverty in the country, the PM needs to send a message of austerity. $8000 is nothing in the grand scheme of things, but the lordly message the government is sending makes it clear that there is a disconnect between the rulers and people. They are not one of us.

We're a nuclear power for goodness sake, let's not travel around in gadha gari because our population lives in poverty. Look at India, half the people don't have toilets, but they're sending stuff to mars and their PM has security of some 1000 guys, private jet also (boeing 747 i think, maybe changed now) and so forth.

Anyways, private jet has been used since Ayub's era. It is used by many head of states around the world. Occasionally they use entire airplane of state's airline (Nawaz uses 777, which is too much. An A320 is enough, or even A310.)
