Stop repeating the word 'Islamo'. It was not between Islam and Budhism or whatever religion Singaporean Chinese used to follow, but between the ethnic Malays and Chinese. Sense of eligibility in socialism is something that we should distance ourselves from. When there's eligibility, there is no sense of value so people tend to exploit it and in the end, it destroys productivity and convince people to live off other people's money. The welfare concept of UK is a failure. You can see people claiming benefits which is funded by other hard working individuals' money instead of working. Thatcher had a valuable vision but she failed to do what she wanted to do because of democracy getting in her otherwise she did restore UK's status to an important player in geopolitics. At home she failed to implement some of the important policies.

I don't have a stake in this, because I'm Chinese born and raised. I just find it distasteful that he had such a low opinion of Chinese culture that he basically wiped it out and replaced it with 1950's British culture. The only reason he started promoting Mandarin again was because China was getting strong, not because he thought Chinese had any intrinsic value. it is almost as sad as how South Asian languages are getting replaced by English. Maybe you South Asians want to emulate him, but we don't.

I just want to say - thank god we did not have Lee Kuan Yew in China itself, otherwise today, Chinese culture will be totally extinct and the Taiwanese would actually have a point.
